Madonna’s Hard Candy Debuts At Number One

madgeno1.jpg

Big shocker there. We all know Madge would not settle for anyting less than number one, and she shouldn’t. She is the Queen after all. But I must honestly say, I was not impressed with Hard Candy. Felt a bit rushed to me and there’s only 2-3 worthy tracks.

Her single “4 Minutes” also reached No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, giving Madonna her 37th Top 10 hit and pushing her past Elvis for the most Top 10s of all time.

The Justin Timberlake collaboration is her 53rd single to crack the Hot 100 (and her second duet, following 2003’s “Me Against the Music” with Britney Spears.)

The Hum reports,

Hard Candy concludes the singer’s quarter-century career with Warner, which dates back to her 1983’s self-titled debut. Last fall, Madonna signed a 10-year deal with concert promoter Live Nation, reportedly worth $120 million, that includes albums, tours, merchandise and promotion.

Madonna’s mega-debut knocked down the newly married Mariah Carey’s E=MC2 and Leona Lewis’ Spirit to Nos. 2 and 3, selling 95,000 and 84,000 copies, respectively.

Oh and, while performing last night in Paris, Madonna decided to party like it was 2003 by making out with a female dancer on stage.

I think Hard Candy is actually one of if not the best album Madonna has ever done. It more then proves that even at 49 she is still the Queen of Pop.

I remember listening to the 30 sec snippets and thinking UH OH… didn’t sound good… then I listened to the whole thing… and it got better… then I listened to it a second and third time and I was amazed at how brilliant and fun it is from beginning to end.

Madonna albums generally take a listen or two or three because they are always so different from the last album… and our expectations get the best of us.

What are you 3 worthy tracks? I’m curious! It’s hard for me to pick favorites… but I really like Heartbeat and Beat Goes On… if I HAVE to pick just two.
