Louis Vuitton vs. Darfur

darfur_lv.jpg

Make Fetch Happen reports the following story:

Artist Nadia Plesner created this image to satirize the lack of media attention a genocide like Darfur gathers compared with the relative overexposure of say, skinny white women with little dogs and designer bags.

Louis Vuitton (who one writer claims, had ties to the Nazi Party) has responded with a lawsuit demanding that Plesner stop producing the image (which appears on shirts and as a poster print) and an additional $20K per day in damages for copyright infringement.

If Louis Vuitton was business savvy, they would use the opportunity to emphasize the importance of donating to those less fortunate than us, especially to Darfur, instead of spending ridiculous cash on suing a person for trying to get an important message across.

This pic says it all. I often wondered why women need more than one purse, and why they pay thousands od dollar for one. Same with shoes, and cars, and these million dollar houses. All a person needs is a roof over thier families heads. Some of these homes have seven or more bathrooms. What a waste of money when they could be helping so many who don’t even own a pair of shoes and live in shacksm or are homeless. I wish this pic would be air every day on cable tv and on every newspaper. Shame on all you material people, even Madonna , and she the one who did the song. Shame on you. Just remember you get what you give.

while what is happening is darfur is really important, you can’t blame people for not wanting to hear about it too much, they much rather talk about gossip and such, so it’s not really lvs fault or the ditz paris, but rather human interest, who wants to work 15 hrs a day and then go hear depressing news about darfur, not many, news and magazines usually report on what people want to hear, and those lv purses are cheesy. back to my 18 hr a day job, peace out

I LOVE this ad. FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC! REally makes you think. And think about what is really important in life, and LV and tiny dogs are not even close.
