Oprah Winfrey has decided to dedicate a show investigating abuses at puppy mills in honor of her cocker spaniel, Sophie, who died last month from kidney failure.
On a broadcast scheduled to air this Friday, Oprah said,
Sophie gave me 13 years of unconditional love. She was a true love in my life. The show is for anybody anywhere who loves a dog, has ever loved a dog, or just cares about their basic right to humane treatment.

The loss of a pet can be hard. :( RIP Sophie!
I haven’t stopped crying! I lost my 8 year old golden retriever, Lee to Fibrosarcoma on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at 9:30am. We spent almost a decade together of love and happiness. That unconditional love we talk about that our pets gives us is something we just don’t find in human love. Why is that? I wanted to spend my 60th birthday on 4/4 with Lee and drive along the coast on the 101. I feel so alone.
