This excites me beyond words! I just saw a screening of ‘La Misma Luna’ (Under The Same Moon) on Friday and met the writer/producer and the director.
The story told in this film is unparalleled and so full of heart that anyone can relate to it’s message. The film, which stars popular Mexican actors Kate Del Castillo, Eugenio Derbez, and Adrian Alonso, tells the story of a young Mexican boy who crosses the Mexican border to be with his mom who is working illegally in Los Angeles.
Before ‘Ugly Betty’ came around and made America Ferrera the star she is today, she had a small cameo in the movie playing the girl who helps the boy cross the border.
I can’t stress how inspiring this film is. I am so proud of it. If you can see it, please go. Especially if you are Latino. Gotta support our people!
The LA premiere of ‘Under The Same Moon’ happened on Tuesday night at the Egyptian Theatre and will be released in selected cities March 19th.

I am really disappointed to read jake comments. You only see words your not seeing the true meaning of the movie. Everybody has pride, Hispanics, which you are because you can’t call yourself a Mexican because you were not born in Mexico, have no fear of saying who they are. I myself am a Hispanic, one parent Mexican and other Hispanic. I am proud of my heritage and proudly say I am a Hispanic. Our families show more togetherness than any white american can show. Dirty bastard, you are yourself because I think you forget that you are one also and you are DISPRESPECTING YOUR MOTHER and HER family. Oh I cant wait for this film to play at our theatre march 19th in Austin, Texas. Big crowd will come let me tell you. Oh I feel the goosebumps which is a good feeling. Hoped that the director and actors did a texas appearance at our theatre since we are the state capitol where most mexicans live too other than el paso, laredo, san antonio, houston, etc.. the whole State of Texas, why cali? I think everything is coming to plan within the last few days before its launch more peoples exposure…meaning the hype is helping more and more people wanting to watch it. I am saying this because the film is indepedent since a few months ago I heard of the film nobody knew that it was going to come out and now a few days until it launches it already escalated into whole nine yards in the spanish media. I love how the spanish films are so limited and hard to find when you don’t hear or see them being promoted. “Let the audience come to you”
