Britney Spears Is NOT An Open Checkbook

britcheckbook.jpg

Finally, something in the Spears/Federline custody case that actually makes sense. Britney Spears‘ lawyer is arguing with Kevin Federline’s lawyer over the ridiculously high legal fees arising from the former couple’s bitter custody battle.

The new lawyer, Stacy Phillips, argued that K-Fed’s lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan’s fees are excessive, saying that “four months of fees for both sides added up to a whopping $900,000.”

PageSix continues to report that Phillips argued that Kevin has the ability to pay for his own lawyer (the current agreement stipulates that the pop star pays for all of her ex-husband’s legal fees), saying, “Ms. Spears is not an open checkbook.”
She believes that Kaplan’s fees should be in the “$150,000-$175,000 range.”

Later, she attacked Kevin for not separating his personal and business expenses, and revealed that his ex-girlfriend Shar Jackson has use of his business credit card and is using it for personal purposes. She went on to say that K-Fed recently spent $20,000 on jewelry, went out to dinner and left a $2,000 tip on a $365 bill.

In more updated new, Public Information Officer Allan Parachini says that it’s unlikely to be a ruling today.

Parachini said that Kevin Federline spoke briefly during the closed hearing “very crypictically,” adding that Jamie Spears was more involved.

It’s not asking for much - K-Fed doesn’t need it and his lawyer certainly doesn’t.

I think $175,000 is plenty for Kevin’s lawyer fees, come on now people

I think that’s horrible that people are trying to take advantage of her so much, when she’s obviously not making the best decisions right now.

it is horrible that they’re doing that - but i’d disagree about the decisions, i think for once her life is actually turning around right now..

please kaplan should do this case pro bono. he has reveled in all the publicity. What child custody case costs close to million dollars? He is a blood sucking leach just like every other person in brits life. It is her own fault for not taking control of her life sooner. While all the fantards applaud this grown woman for wearing underwear I am still at a total loss of pity or compassion for brit. I have a hard time feeling bad for anyone who has the world by the balls and chooses to let her life personally and publicly fall to the way side. By her life I dont mean her “career” I mean her children. She is just perpetuating another cycle of poor little rich kids with poor moral fiber. We all know what a piece of shit kfed is he left his alreay prego girl for britney. Where is the moral highground there? Yet people still praise him for being the good parent. No big accomplishment there! a wire reeses monkey can parent better than brit.If his ex shar jackson was sniffing coke off the back of a toilet seat on you tube we would not see a custody circus that this has become. Because there is nothing for kfed to gain there. He is hardly father of the year, I have yet to see one picture of him with his other kid? Infact I bet that kid has so much hatred for the two little motherless potato products that is small fry and tater tot. This shit happens everyday in trailer parks across the country. Furthermore brit still looks like shit. Papa bear apparently still cant get her in shower. I do have to thank him from the bottom of my heart for covering her yeast infested vajayjay.

Please. Lawyers are expensive and the bitch didn’t show up for most of the proceedings which meant they had to be rescheduled. Kaplan’s fees are in line with Shitney’s lawyer so obviously that is the rate in L.A.

Only a boy could make a statement as ridiculous as this:

“well, britney initiated the divorce. she got what she deserves”. If it’s a female… shame on you… maybe you’re so lucky to have a man who doesn’t leech and is out all night while you’re home w/the kids after birthing.

That’s sexist. I am a female and I feel the same way anonymous does. Doesn’t matter what gender they are, if she didn’t want this bullshit they should have worked it out. These days nobody wants to stay married at the first sign of weakness. Tells a lot about the person.

AlmostEvil, thanks, that’s what I meant as well as Britney cheated on Justin, and who knows what she did with Kevin. She also had affairs with lesbians during her marriage. She humiliated the guy, filed for divorce, took his kids then endangered the poor kids on a regular basis. Then she decided she didn’t really want to divorce him and was tricked into doing so according to several articles. Therefore, she iniated this costly mess, of course the lawyers are going to want their money. She never should have married Federline then.

*initiated this costly mess

additionally, if Federline is this monster Britney claimed, why are her parents hanging out with him so much and thanking him for trying to get thr kids into a stable environment. why did he have to step up to the plate when she did so many crazy things and why did the judge give him custody when they usually side with the celebrity. Federline is no angel, but Britney is clearly the worst one out of the two.
