As previously posted, baring all for a photoshoot that recreates an iconic Marilyn Monroe moment was a no brainer for Lindsay Lohan, and that’s fine. But here’s what shocks me. I just found out that her 13 year old sister, Ali, was in the session with her, watching and learning. What a great example Linds, eh?

Once you have displayed your body to the public, there is no mystery anymore. Her expression on her face in the photo above looks disturbing.
and you know what else is sad and scary? this is a respected magazine. you can spout liberal crap all you want, you still put women in your magazines and treat them like objects.
yep
just so you all know. THIS ISN’T “The New Yorker” this is “New York” a different magazine. I have a subscription to “the new yorker” never received this magazine, so I thought, WTF?! right? looked on the official web site for the new yorker, this isn’t published by them. So, granted “the new yorker” is a very respectable magazine, don’t get confused on what they’re publishing and what they’re not. THIS ISNT FROM “THE NEW YORKER”, it’s “NEW YORK”!!!
Crista..
this is not a reply to your comments, couldn’t get the new comment button to work.
I think she did a great job!!!!
The New Yorker is not going to put smut in there mag, I feel the pictures were very well done, great lighting, AWESOME Makeup and hair, now I am not saying that in afew photos she couldn’t have covered herself up abit more. I read somewhere in a comment that someone called the photographer a “Prev”…. well that’s just not right to say, they did there job and the outcome were awesome pics. Now if you know the Photographer personally than you have the right to call them a Perv but if you will say it on a comment say it to there face, Now if you don’t know the Photographer “probably the case” you should appologize, because calling some one a PERV is RUDE, and could damage there job.
And everyone has the right to there own opinion about this photo shoot. Sum agree and sum don’t that is our right as Americans
But to BASH Lindsay thats not right, she can’t comment back to what we write.
I agree, my jaw droped! LL is a goddess !
Crista, her face doesn’t look disturbing to me.
she looks like a 13 y old with too much makeup and a bad weave posing for a 40 y old perv, she is better than that, time will help her … maybe
Assuming she’s still alive by 40, I can’t wait to see what Firecrotch will look like by then …!
LiLo doesn’t hold a candle to Marilyn.
lol
We can ACTUALLY SEE her naked-ass chest and nipples.
Yuck. Ali was watching that sh*t? Oh boy.
i can’t believe Ali was there lol!
Marilyn is rolling over in her grave!!! This already washed up freckled troll should have never been allowed to remake these last photos of Marilyn Monroe… she will never posses the ageless beauty and grace of Marilyn. She might end up dead of an over dose but thats as close as these 2 will ever come to having anything in common.
Honestly, these photos are NOT flattering. Sad, really. Lindsay’s still so young, and she already looks so used up.
what’s wrong with these pictures? i don’t see a problem….
I’m simple. So explain to me simply, what did she do wrong?
First, she is a piss poor impersonation of Marilyn Monroe. Second, it is only a cry for MORE ATTENTION. Third, she is no where near the calibur movie star MM once was. I know there are similarities with the drug use and party lifestyle, which LL LOVES, but come on!!!!! I saw all the pics, and they are not good. She has not one curve on her cardboard frame, NOT ONE!!!! Marilyn was a size 10 or 12, not a size 2 like LL. I am just so sick of this girls cries for attention. She will squawk at any mag that says “cover shot”, and all she tells are lies. In the interview for this very shoot, she got annoyed at the person conducting the interview because they compared Marilyn’s untimely demise to LL’s crazy stupid life! She got annoyed at the person! They were only stating the obvious! Man, her ego is the size of PA, and SHE SUCKS!!!! All her movies have bombed in the last 3 years, and she still thinks she’s relevant! I really hope she reads the backlash from these pics, and maybe, just maybe, GO THE FUCK AWAY!!!!! YOU ARE A NASTY SKANK. GO AWAY!!!!!!
AND HER 13 YEAR OLD SISTER THERE TO BOOT!!!!!! LADIES AND GENTELMAN, WE HAVE A REAL WINNER HERE!!!! The whole Lohan family needs to just go the fuck away, and stop giving children bad influences. Its bad enough that now you can be famous for a sex tape or just having a huge ass. Why can’t our society take a few steps back where women were actually respected actors who did a great job. Why can’t we as women just rise above the bull shit happening all over again, and be better people for ourselves, not for men. I feel women have taken 10 steps back since 9/11. Gone are the days it seems when all women cared about was their career and maybe a man or family. It seems we rerouted back to the way it was in the 30’s & 40’s, where women were to stay home and cook, and have babies. It seems that is how it is now. look at the clothes and how they have changed. A few years ago, women took pride in looking like a classy woman, not a trashy woman. Mini-skirts are back, where some can’t even walk with out their asses hanging out. Hello, Britney! Paris! Lindsay! They all started flashing their bits to everyone, and they took women down a step by doing so. We are supposed to be strong, indepenent women, who don’t give a shit what the man sitting next to us thinks! Or what a magazine thinks. We should be taking steps forward and earning as much as men, being elected to office, but it seems we just keep slipping backwards. My own mother thinks we aren’t ready for a woman president! God damn I was pissed when she told me that! WHY THE FUCK NOT???? NOW IS THE TIME FOR A WOMAN TO TAKE OVER WHAT THE IDIOT ME HAVE RUINED! ENOUGH OF WOMEN THINKING THEY CAN’T DO WHAT A MAN DOES! ENOUGH!!!!! I wish that we could just keep evolving as women, and not take the backward steps like we are now. I blame Hollywood a little for it too. Women aren’t just sex symbols, although LL would like you to think so. Women aren’t just the role of “girl on couch” in a movie or video. We are strong, smarter beings than men, LETS ACT LIKE IT!!!!! (Ok, I’ll stop, I kinda went off there, and I don’t know if it makes sense, but read it if you like. And thanks if you did!)
The reason why this country isn’t ready for a woman president is because every chance a woman gets these days, or so it seems, they take they’re clothes off for a camera…it’s crazy. I’m sure Hillary would do it too (God forbid) if she was remotely womanly or if Billy-boy pushed her enough. Isn’t that the route to fame with women these days…taking their clothes off? it seems that way at least. You’re right…women have taken a huge step backward…all woman’s lib did was get women to kill their babies, take their clothes off and prance around like whores and become lesbians…well, at least if you look at magazines, TV and the movies…that’s the way women are depicted and that’s why they aren’t taken seriously…Give me a Condaleeza Rice over a Susan Sarandon or Hillary any day!…There’s no mystery anymore.
that was beautifully done Mike!
this goes a little too far in the conservative direction for my taste.
Condaleeza Rice is a liar and no better than the terrorists that have attacked our country. She not only agreed with a plan to deceive the American people & the world, but she helped to push the agenda through. Then she lied, under oath, to Congress, which of course no one cares about. But then again, if you’re a conservative, you’ve probably already given up your god-given ability to think critically, and now just sit there spewing the party line. You’ve been brainwashed, mislead and bamboozled.
The rest of the world hates America, and thinks of us as arms dealers. And you may sit there and think that the rest of the world has it all wrong, but that would just be turning a blind eye.
You’re obviously ignorant, because you think any woman will strip down for money or attention. It’s probably the only kind of woman you can get anyway.
There are plenty of women with integrity, and just because someone shows a little skin, does not mean that they demean themselves. But go ahead, lump “women” all into one category. Lump “liberals” and “progressives” all into one category.
And just for your reference, according to science, yes science.. that thing that you rely on every day to get you where you need to go, communicate with who you want, helps you earn your paycheck and live comfortable.. according to science, women are not “killing their babies” when they make the decision to abort a pregnancy. But the church has told you what to think on that front. Rush Limbaugh has told you what to think on other fronts (and what a big fat hypocritical liar he is, but ignore that). And countless other people have told you what to think, so that you don’t have to anymore.
Keep it up sheep.
And it’s women like you who convince your own mother we aren’t ready for a femal president. By saying “we are strong[er] smarter beings than men” and “it’s time for a woman to take over what the idiot me[n]” you perpetuate the problem. Instead of being rational, and working together as “humankind” you have to show how immature you really are. You basically told the world the same thing my six year old does. “Mine is better than yours, because I said so.” While men may look at a woman in a mini skirt, it was the woman who demands the attention by putting it on.
In response to the idea that Lohan is setting back women, please see: http://xkcd.com/385/ Do it now, it will only take five seconds of your time, and makes the point better than I could. When you come back, ask yourself, are you being part of the solution, or part of the very problem you are complaining about?
I’m not sure why you get so upset about Lohan trying to find publicity. It seems to me that is her actual literal job. Same job as Marylin Monroe, if I understand correctly. It seems you object not to the job, though, but rather to how Lohan performs it. I have to admit, the details are lost on me, but your comparison of Monroe to Lohan is interesting, and could perhaps be the point of the photo shoot. Wouldn’t the artistic statement being made be more interesting to discuss than how skanky someone is?
I completely lose your reasoning when you attack her for allowing her sister to be present. What is she supposed to be ashamed of? Her body? The dehumanizing industry she works in? The people she associates with at work? What is it a 13 year old is not supposed to see? I don’t get it. I would think all of those things would be good things for a 13 year old American girl to see.
Well, at 13, a young girl should know a lot about their body, seeing their adult sister strip for a photgrapher, not a good idea. What is that saying to such an inpresionable mind? Oh, its ok to take your clothes off, as long as it’s called “art”. I do NOT find that acceptable. And it was kind of a rant, not necessiarily about LL, well I guess it was! But I know I kinda went off on an LL post, but I am just frustrated how women are being perceived now, and I don’t like it. I did check out your link, and I don’t really get it, sorry! And it is her job to act, not seek publicity. A ton of actors aren’t even photographed, and this attention whore is on 5 different mags right now, all for the sake of being photgraphed. If you ask me, there is def something wrong with that.
I have had those same thoughts on my mind as well. With these poor-excuses for women flashing their private parts in public. What has the world come to? I do feel like they have taken us down. Soon I feel like there will be no man left in the world who feels it is necessary to respect women. Think about it. If all women thought and acted like the above mentioned…there would be NO POINT for flattery, kindness, respect, or even dating. You reasoning and opinions make perfect sense. And I am glad there are women like you who are concerned about it. I know that people think the show South Park is nonsense and gross, but just please watch the paris hilton episode from the 8th season. You will realize so much.
that was really well put, crista.
Thanks Crista, and I am glad I am not alone in how I feel.
the world has sure changed….
The point of the link is that you are insisting that Lohan’s actions somehow reflect upon women, and they do not. To say they do is what truly undermines respect for women. If your view of all women can be so easily swayed by a single attention whore, what does that say about you? If you think that men’s view of women is swayed, what must you think of us?
It doesn’t matter what you call it. It is okay to take your clothes off. It doesn’t even have to be artful. It can just be fun. I think it’s important for a young girl to see the human body displayed without shame. I think it would be good for you, too.
If you were really upset about the effect these girls were having on society, you wouldn’t be slavishly following their careers on celeb porn sites like this. You are a Lohan fan, you just enjoy hating her. But, you are still one of the consumers of her product, love her or hate her. If you want her to go away, you’ve chosen a pretty ineffective way to go about it.
Ok, so if you had a daughter, you would want her to take her clothes off for some creepy dude behind a camera????!!!!!! I understand what you are saying, that young girls shouldn’t be embarrased by their bodies, and I agree, but it is just not ok to go around taking your clothes off for anyone! I can’t even believe you said it is ok! I guess you would be ok if your daughter was on a Girls Gone Wild video too? You said it yourself Simple. I am NOT a fan of Hohan, never was, and if you read my comments about her, you would see that. I don’t think she is good for anything but being a whore. And I didn’t mean that LL is the cause of women not being as respected as they once were, you are right there, it isn’t her, its the media who won’t stop shoving her down our throuts and pushing these kinds of thoughts into young impresionable minds. I know I wouldn’t want my daughter looking up to today’s “movie stars” that is for damn sure. I find it sickening that young girls walk around with skirts so short their ass almost hangs out, the short shorts with writing on the ass, yeah thats great. Just what I wanted, someone staring at my childs ass (if I had One, I wouldn’t buy that shit anyway, but other parents do) that says “Juicy”. I’m tired of women in movies not getting the good meaty roles, I’m tired of young women flashing themselves for the world to see, I’m tired of seeing women objectified as only sex symbols, I’m tired of airheads that get all the attention. Why don’t the smart ones who actually have something good to say or do get interviewed? Why can’t women cover themselves? Why always have t & a showing? Why can’t we go back to how it was pre 9-11? When women weren’t looked at as baby makers? We are strong, smart, loving, genuine people who need to take a stand again and regain what we lost. I also find it appaling that women HATE the first real women presidential canidate that could actually do something good for our country. Its time we stop hating each other, and come together to make things better for US. Women STILL don’t make as much as men!!!!!!!! That outrages me! I mean really, really outrages me that it is 2008, and women don’t make as much money as our lesser couterpart! When will women be treated as equals? Something needs to change, and soon.
*
One more thing simple, I don’t slavishly follow any celebs career, I read this shit at work to occupy my time when I’m bored. Its called entertainment. I don’t log on at home, only at work, and I still get all my work done. And if you want to look at all my comments, you can, and you will see all my posts are done before 5 eastern time.
Agent D, you sound more like a man hater than a woman promoter. I’d like to comment on a couple of points. First, you talk about how women had more class before 9/11. What 9/11 has to do with it, I don’t know. But, how classy is it to cuss like a sailor? You want respect, but a potty mouth does not help you get it. You can put beautiful, tasteful clothes on a woman, but when garbage comes out of her mouth, the class goes right out the window. One of the classiest women I know chose to be a homemaker and made that her career. She did a fabulous job. Another chose the business world and makes more money than the men she works with. So, it’s not what you choose to do with your life, it’s how you do it that matters. Granted, there are still many inequities regarding equal pay for equal work, but ranting about it won’t change it. What you do during your down time will. Which brings me to my second point, why do you look at web sites like this when you’re bored at work? Why not get involved with organizations that help women become stronger and escape from the “tyranny” of men? If you have the freedom to surf the net at your job you’re lucky. You could put that time to productive use serving people, not just yourself. As a woman, I don’t have respect for you, so I can see why a man, if he thought all women were like you, would not respect women.
Did I swear? I said Hohan, but that is all I read. And if you don’t respect me, fine by me, I don’t really care. I went off just because I felt like it, not harm was done. Bye bye now.
Oh, peachy, I love men, especially the one I’m engaged too. I don’t like how the women are portrayed as sex symbols who only get far by exposing themselves. And you are right, I shouldn’t read this garbage, I should be helping to change what I dislike so much, and I think I will. Thanks. Oh, and bye bye again!
i liked that website a lot; a simple line drawing and a comment conveyed so much.
i don’t care about LL, but what gets me is more the people- MEN- in charge. do you see people asking george clooney or brad pitt or any particular actor, no matter what his caste, to disrobe? is this all we’ve reduced women to? i don’t care about nudity so much as i am bewildered (especially as the mother of daughters) as to why, since we’ve allegedly come so far in our thinking, WHY women are still basically reduced to posing naked, provocatively or in revealing clothing. it’s disgusting. even when the dixie chicks wanted to make a point about free speech, they were stripped, whether or not they had paint on them. every single photograph of women with some kind of power (over the media, popular celebrities, etc) are at some point stripped of their clothing and posed in allegedly artistic photos. about ten years ago, drew barrymore at SEVENTEEN (and for a while at 18 and 19) was constantly naked in photos. jessica biel, supposedly a respected actress, was posed nude and in smeared lipstick and in a sink. COME ON. as women, we need to object to the fact that we are objectified and helping the people in charge make excuses for it. “it’s art!” “a body is nothing to be ashamed of!” PLEASE. being posed and tarted up like a show pony when your male counterparts are asked to do no such thing is just revolting. we are taught that we are the sum of our parts and it’s our job to be strong, yet not object to being painted and stripped. NO THANKS.
I don’t want to get in a dick-waving contest with you, but the forms of repression faced by men are different than those faced by women. Just because you don’t see the same problems doesn’t mean there aren’t any. By the way, men are only too eager to take off their clothes for photogs. Not our fault no one wants to see us, but I think we’d enjoy the attention to the male body. For a couple decades, anyhow.
I think the most exploitive magazine covers are found on women’s magazines. You do not and never have found “waifs” on the covers of men’s magazines. It is media targeted at women, not men, that projects unrealistic standards of beauty — standards which are not shared by men, it has been found.
It’s not Lohan’s fault she’s successful. Or any of a dozen manufactured celebrities who’s popularity pay the bills for this website. It seems absurd to me that they should be taking all the heat for the choices consumers like you and me make.
You have just proved the point we are all trying to make. Everything is about sex and women, and those things sell. You just said that, basically, and that is what we women find is so shameful. The fact that women in the public eye have the example to set..we do not, but only to our friends and family. As a mother of a son, I will not raise my son to think like you do. Ever heard the story of Adam and Eve? God gave them shame, and that is a fantastic and beautiful thing. Modesty is so very rare, and it should be appreciated, not argued against like you are doing. It is mind-boggling that you are making an argument towards the women on this site who HAVE modesty and who HAVE shame (positive shame. You should be happy that there are women like that. That is all part of the “game” isn’t it??! (sarcasm)
You know what though. Since I’ve been a changed person, I still have to admit that I respect your opinion. And I take back the word “argument” that I used. You are not arguing, you are just being opinionated like we are. Rebuttals are what make this site exciting anyway, so I apologize! =)
did you ever read dennis lehane, crista? he once wrote that honor is a dying breed and will die out slowly and completely.
see below- all replies are posting on their own for some reason.
Yummy! Bad makeup job though. Her make up for these shots has never looked worse. Could be better.
her career is still dead. this isn’t going to bring it back. she’s doing porn. how pathetic.
this is not porn. It’s ART. :)
The pictures are beautiful. It’s a publicity stunt, but the pictures are still very beautiful.
Well said M!
The sexy image that i had on her turned to a pale looking lady……….
I don’t dislike Lohan and I have a great deal of respect for the way you present yourself and the articulate way you write. I don’t care about any celebrity enough to really engage in the kind of violent discourse you can often find here.
That stated, I find the human body beautiful and I love to see naked men. I do. I am guilty of clicking on the naked photos of Brad Pitt and (insert heart attack here) Shemar Moore- guilty because they didn’t give permission for those photos to be taken. I don’t think nudity is something to be ashamed of, but I do think it depends on how it’s presented. Most magazines are run by people who think of nothing but money and how it can be raked in. The opinion seems to be that posing women- especially those seen as powerful or outspoken- in various stages of undress is what sells. Maxim is absolutely not marketed to women; neither is FHM. They are constantly putting women on their covers in the sluttiest poses possible. Interview magazine did a whole photo shoot with a naked Drew Barrymore and she was seventeen years old. Her fully clothed fiance was next to her and they had a group of nude female models posing with her. It has less to do with waifs than with the simple fact that we only seem interested in celebrities when they’re being provocative. It’s sad. I am willing to bet the New Yorker has little inside with undressed males because it is ASSUMED women don’t want to see them or that we don’t want to take away their power by stripping them.
She is freakin hot and letting us see her hotness. Anyone who doesn’t like it can take a dump and roll around in it.
Girls hate her cause they wish they were her. :)
i replied, but for some reason it posted on its own. this website gives me trouble.
i respect your opinion, but there are inconsistencies. women are objectified on a daily basis, pure and simple. men are not repressed in this area. nudity is great within its context (did you ever see the film “woodstock”? all the happy hippies taking off their clothes and feeling free is very different from this). what the bodies look like are not the point. the point is that women are considered objects and pictures are only considered interesting if the subjects are in underwear, bathing suits, coyly showing a little, or plain naked.
I think as far as ideas go for a photo shoot, it was a fairly good one. But the execution of it was simply horrible. I mean, seriously, she looks like shit! No wait, shit would be a step up from what she looks like in those pictures… but hey, maybe that’s what they/she was going for.
Wow. I can’t believe the sheer volume of type going on here. I believe I can say in a few sentences that she did an amazing job in her homage to Marilyn - despite the most inexplicably hideous make-up and wig I have ever seen. There was no airbrushing on those images either. I had no idea her body was that great - she should never wear clothes, ever.
As a PS, do you honestly think her sister has never seen her naked before? The hypocritically puritanical outcry here is truly dismal. We’re all naked all the time under our clothes, children!
I think she did a great job!!!!
The New Yorker is not going to put smut in there mag, I feel the pictures were very well done, great lighting, AWESOME Makeup and hair, now I am not saying that in afew photos she couldn’t have covered herself up abit more. But to BASH Lindsay thats not right, she can’t comment back to what we write. And I wish she could, it would be great to see her replys to some of the things that were said here.
ohhhhhhh, baby…………
for everybody cutting LL down. I refer to an old but true saying in journalism, there is no bad publicity. So while you are cutting her down for posing nude just keep in mind that you all are giving her what she wants one way or another
