Christina Aguilera’s Son Changed Her Life

caguilera_max.jpg

Among the things she reveals in the new issue of People, Christina Aguilera also explains why she opted for a c-section instead of natural childbirth.

I didn’t want any surprises,” she told People mag of the week 37 decision to go under the knife to have Max. “I’d heard horror stories about [vaginal] tearing. I had heard horror stories of women going in and having to have an emergency C-section [anyway].

I really wanted a calm and peaceful environment. The hardest part was deciding on his birthday. I wanted to leave it up to fate, but at the same time I was ready to be done early!

The C-section was “more painful than she thought [it would be]” and a “sore” Christina had to stay in the hospital for four days.

However, Xtina admits that adorable Max Liron Bratman has “completely changed my life.”

Having a baby does change a woman. There are some visitors on this site that just will never understand that. I had to have an emergency c-section. I stayed in the hospital for 7 days. After they took the catheter out I couldn’t even go to the bathroom on my own until the 4th day. It was terrible. I don’t know why anyone would choose to have a c-section.

i had to have one, too. the pain was unbearable- when getting into the shower for the first time, i couldn’t even answer the nurse when she asked if i was alright.

I don’t have any children but my sister has three kids. The first child, she had through a C-section but for the second pregnancy she gave birth to twins vaginally. She definitely preferred giving birth vaginally! I don’t see why someone would choose a C-section either but apparently some women would rather have it!

I have gone through massage therapy training, and learned that a persons first massage happens in natural childbirth. It is a very important experience for baby; helping them to connect to themselves and mother. I would NEVER deny my child that experience unless it was absolutely necessary. Being afraid of natural childbirth is absurd, just like being afraid of breastfeeding. The truth is Christina didn’t want her vagina to expand. At the expense of her baby’s experience. That’s just sad.

Millions and millions of women have a c-section on this planet.

What’s sad?

Nothing.

Stop whining. Christina is THE BEST. lol

Max is healthy, Christina is healthy, it is ALL GOOD!

that is ridiculous. i had to have an emergency c-section, but i was as connected to my daughter as anyone. you’re not denying a kid an experience- being born is the thing. to quote catherine newman, the birth is the map and not the destination- the baby is the thing. women are allowed to have CHOICES, and if formula or c-sections are choices, they are harming no one.

I sort of agree with you. Sort of. I agree with jenn too. I wish so bad that I had my son naturally, and that was the plan. I had my son at 1030 at night and I didn’t wake up from anesthesia until 0700 the next morning. In other words…I didn’t get to see my son until the next day, and I didn’t get to experience his birth. It was very sad. But some friends took pictures and video of my husband holding my son when they brought him out of the OR.

i literally almost killed my daughter because i was so obsessed with not having a c-section. her heart rate kept dropping but i kept begging them not to give me one and to let me try it naturally. at one point, the nurse said bluntly, “she’s going to die if you don’t let us help her” and at that point i’d let it go on so long, they had to knock me out because there was no time for an epidural.

i just can’t stand self righteous nonsense. asking for a c-section doesn’t hurt a child; neither does formula. what about adopted kids? i mean, come on. that it’s another female that judges women so harshly is very disheartening.

Jenn, the difference between you and Ms. Aguilera is that your baby was in trouble, while hers was healthy. Choosing a C-section *does* hurt children - they are 2-6 times more likely to die than in a vaginal birth, and more likely to suffer complications ranging from breathing problems to colic to dental cavities. Formula *does* hurt children. Sometimes it is the best option, but it is never without risk.

how does formula hurt children? I know that breast milk is by far the best thing for them, but i have never ever heard that formula *hurts* children. Could you explain that one?

i have never heard that about formula myself. my girls were on both until i had to go back to work (when they were quite young) and then it had to be all formula. another friend has two adopted kids, and obviously they had to be on formula and from the way they destroy my place, they seem just fine.

I breast fed my son until only the 3rd week for personal reasons. I had Eric in a German hospital off-base and I was never ever asked if I was breast or formula feeding. I guess people rarely do formula over here.

you’re just amazingly brave- giving birth in a strange country away from family. i went back to work when mardou was six weeks old and when alaia was nine weeks old and formula was a must. people are just judgmental and ridiculous.

It was my husband’s turn to get deployed at that time, but it was fought by the offices to get his AEF switched with mine. So he got to stay with me and then get deployed in January. My husband was all I had, and I can’t speak any German past “Morgen! Danke! and Tsuess!” Luckily the other mother in the room with me was German and also spoke English so she would translate things to me. I cried everyday.
.
I had to go back to work after 7 weeks(becuase I stayed one week in the hospital) and I had to put him in a daycare because me and my husband are both mil and working.

yes, it was an emergency situation, but the pressure that it put on women to not have one influenced me (and probably others) to the point where i actually endangered my child. it is fairly rare to die in any kind of childbirth unless you’re in a third world country. and exactly how does formula hurt children? on what do you base that incendiary remark? my friend’s two adopted children would heartily disagree with you.

Too posh to push? Please, what is wrong with not wanting to push? Nothing.

Again, to each their own.

Xtina should have really tried to think up of a name for her child BEFORE they gave her the pain killers.

“Max Liron Bratman”??????? WTF???? That’s an anagram for “Abnormal Rat Minx”, not exactly something you’d call your number one son.

No shit. Having a baby completely changes every new mothers life. I don’t know why Christina is acting as if her shit is something special. Motherhood IS a life changer. Duh. And maybe if she had Max(a common name for a dog), then she wouldn’t have had to experience so much pain. The truth is that vaginal birth is much easier than getting a C-Section. I had my daughter through my vagina, and I was up, and about the very next day. It is much more painful getting a C-Section. Unless it is recommended by your doctor, than women should have their babies through natural child birth. Christina just like a shit load of Hollywood mom’s, were just too frightened to go through natural child birth. Even Britney admitted after having her second son, that she was too scared to go through the pain of having a child naturally. I don’t see the use in having children, if you’re not going to experience the natural birth. Things can happen with vaginal birth, but having a C-Section is even worse, and that’s a fact. If you can have your baby through the vagina, then go ahead on, and do it! Plus, having a C-Section leaves a hideous scar. Aguilera also probably didn’t want any stretch marks. Well guess what, dummy. A lot of women get them. Some don’t if you’re fortunate.

Speaking of stretch marks, I have read that there are some terrible women out there that schedule a c-section in the 8th/9th month so they dont get stretch marks. (because normally you get the stretch marks, or at least the worst ones, in the 9th/10th month….as i did)

Yes, Christina Aguilera was afraid of giving birth naturally. She said it herself “I’d heard horror stories…”.

And what?

Carla, you whine for nothing.

C-sections are risky. Natural births can be risky as well. JUST CHOOSE!

Baby is healthy. Christina is healthy. Carla is silly.

The end.
