Does Visual Color Affect A Food’s Taste?

purpleberry.jpg

I am a nerd at heart, so it’s no surprise that I find this concept fascinating. Basically, a study was done to find out how much our color and food associations impact tasting.

In a nutshell, the outcome was that when color is slightly altered in a product (liquid or solid), people claim to taste a difference even though the two products were identical, but when the color remained the same, and the actual taste was changed, people didn’t taste a difference.

The power of the mind is so strong that, in the picture above, for example, when you see the strawberry, even if they change the color, you automatically assume that it’s supposed to taste like a strawberry, so you don’t recognize a difference.

The mind is an enticing thing, I tell ya!

I do believe that the main control of human is in the mind. Talking about visual color affect foods taste, it reminds me to my niece. When she was a year, she doesn’t like to eat. But she love everything that taste strawberry with red or pink color. Her mother finally found the way to make her willing to eat more. She put red food colouring, even when she made fried rice for her. Amazingly, that’s work!

“Who’s going to be the first one to tell me the truth? Friedrich.
Brigitta. Liesl.
Where do you think we were, Father?
If you don’t believe us, you must have some idea of where you think we were.
-Marta. -Yes, Father.
You tell me.
Friedrich told you, Father. We were berry picking.
-I forgot! You were berry picking. -Yes, we love berry picking.
All afternoon?
-We picked thousands. -Thousands?
-They were all over the place. -What kind of berries?
-Blueberries, sir. -Blueberries.
It’s too early for blueberries.
-They were strawberries. -Strawberries?
It’s been so cold lately, they turned blue.”

I think you misunderstand the findings, when the colour is changed you would taste the difference but when the colour is the same you wouldn’t. So in the case above a blue straberry won’t taste the same as a red straberry even though they are identical. Mind over matter principle

i think you must be confused…….if the strawberry changed color…the mind would assume it tastes different….you said the same….you are wrong and a little retarded
