One of the biggest events that go on during Oscar season is the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Well, that party is off due to VF’s decision to support the WGA.
Here’s the announcement the magazine put up on their website.
“After much consideration, and in support of the writers and everyone else affected by this strike, we have decided that this is not the appropriate year to hold our annual Oscar party.”
Graydon Carter, VF’s editor, explains why it was the right hting to do,
A magazine like Vanity Fair is a group of writers and artists, and we are in solidarity with the writers and artists out there. Whether the strike is over or not, there are a lot of bruised feelings. I don’t think it’s appropriate for a big magazine from the East to come in and pretend nothing happened.
There will be something sort of liberating about ordering Chinese food and watching the Oscars in bed.

I think this is a nice solidarity and brotherhood in among the writters and artists…The myth that said this community usually tend to be individualistic is not true.
thats the right way!!! lets see what the academy is going to do!!!
esta mina es mas fea nunca la vi asi q seguro se droga para ser mas flaca es orrible pobresita no tiene nada ojala coma algo para subir unos kilitos de mas por favor con rrason q nadie es admiradora de ella .
As much as I miss all of my favorite shows, I know that they would not be so without the fabulous writers who have made them that way. I am always a little suspicious when the giant hollywood exec speaks first…
I hope the writers got a fair deal and BOTH sides are pleased. Congrats to the writers if in fact they did get what they were hoping for… an anxious T.V. viewer.
Jessica looks a lil weird on that dress.
