No one will ever understand why Heath Ledger died. Whether he accidentally overdosed or committed suicide doesn’t quite matter at this point; reality remains, and he is gone.
His ex-fiance and mother of his daughter, Michelle Williams, is “devastated” by his death. TMZ reports that “words cannot describe” the pain she is in over the news about the father of her child, Matilda Rose. She is on a plane heading to NY right now.
The President and COO of Warner Bros, the studio that produced ‘The Dark Knight’, released the following statement:
The studio is stunned and devastated by this tragic news. The entertainment community has lost an enormous talent. Heath was a brilliant actor and an exceptional person. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.
Paul Browne, Deputy Commissioner for Public Information of the New York Police Department, held a press conference on Heath Ledger Tuesday night.
He confirmed the following:
• Heath Ledger was sick with pneumonia when he died today in NYC.
• The deceased was discovered by a masseuse and a housekeeper at approximately 2:45 p.m. today.
• The masseuse was there for a regular appointment.
• The deceased was found in his bedroom.
• The deceased was lying on the floor, curled up, at the foot of his bed.
• The deceased was naked and face down.
• There were not pills found scattered around the room as had been previously reported.
• There were some prescription bottles, including prescription sleeping medication, uncovered.
• Police do not know how long the deceased had been in the apartment.
• The deceased was renting the apartment.
• The cause of death has not yet been determined. The determination will be made by the medical examiners office.

i feel so sorry for his family (especially his baby girl) & friends. It is really hard to believe that he is gone. When I think that I will miss him as a fan, I cannot imagine of what his child will miss him. God be with her & all of his family & friends.
i have read and heard that his drug addiction had a lot to do with the breakup of his relationship and possibly his death. it is people like heath, owen wilson and others who hide their addictions and problems and then the shock hits- why? what was wrong? their secret lives are just scary. i wish him peace, but it’s also sad to think of his little girl growing up without him and that he couldn’t conquer his addictions for her.
But you don’t even know why or how he died yet, how can you assume he died from an addiction? Not even the coroner knows how he died, how do you? Let the man rest in peace, you don’t need to call him an addict.
heath lived in nyc and so do i. i’ve been reading things probably earlier than most- ny paparazzi is crazy for getting the real scoop. and, yes, it’s sad and terrible, but if it was britney- don’t bother starting, i’m not a fan- you’d be like, oh, we knew this was coming and she deserved it. she’s crazy out loud- he was crazy inward, which is more destructive because you have to hide it. it’s a pity that he couldn’t get it together for his child. i don’t wish him anything but peace, but the pain is just beginning for his little daughter. and it’s fairly well documented that he went to rehab, ran from it, struggled with drugs, etc. i think hollywood chews up young stars and spits them out, then looks for the newest to digest.
I would NEVER say anyone deserves to die, EVER. I hate that twat BS, I won’t even type her name, but I would still never wish death on her. I just find it insulting to jump to conclusions on why someone passed away. Yes, he may have had those issues, but don’t jump to conclusions. It’s just not fair to Heath or his family and friends.
but most people do jump to conclusions- look at tom cruise. he’s still alive to hear people talk about how screwy he is, that he controls his wife (basically domestic abuse) and how his child isn’t really his. britney is totally batshit, but we assume she’s a spoiled brat instead of a bi-polar case in the red zone. i have no issue with heath ledger and am sorry he died. unfortunately, for his small daughter, the pain is just beginning and IF- i said if- his drug problems led to his death, it’s just a total shame that he couldn’t get it together for her…. he does remind me of owen wilson, with all his pain turned inward. britney is basically splashing her agony everywhere; he turned his inward, which is the most destructive. but for what’s it’s worth, i genuninely hope he rests in peace.

THis is just so heartbreaking. I didn’t even really beleive it when I read it. I did read this moring that he was suffering from pnemonia also, so that may have had something to do with it. What ever the cause, I hope he is at peace.
