Dr. Drew Pinksy says that having a person committed isn’t as easy as it sounds.
Drew told PageSix that California law does not allow for Britney to be involuntarily committed for psychiatric treatment by her family.
His suggestion?
She needs to be arrested and have the judicial system order her into a mandated treatment program. If her family or her friends know she is engaging in illegal activities, they need to call the police and have her arrested. This is probably the only way she will ever get the help that she obviously so needs.
As we saw with Britney’s brief hospital stay, she was let out early because she was determined to not be a harm to herself or others. She would have to have a severe medical condition such as dementia in order for her family to have any power over her medical treatment.

That should be easy enough, like driving 100+ MPH in city streets, parking in handicap spots, indecent exposure, hell, her car probably still has the dealer tags still on it. Excuse me, this is bullshit. I think Britney’s fucked up, and I think she should be in a mental facility, but the solution to our screwed up laws about mental disability is NOT to advocate a police state where people are thrown into prison and then committed for, at best, misdemeanors like speeding.
As far as I can see, Britney is guilty of personal use of drugs, drunk driving, traffic misdemeanors, and - if you really want to get technical - public indecency (but, hey, if you deal with community standards on this, then Hollywood’s standards aren’t being violated).
I would love it if she could be convinced to enter a facility, or take treatment. But if you advocate arresting and then jailing people for being slutty, nasty, badly-behaving people, then you need to build a helluva lot more jails and nut-houses.
Finally, someone with half a brain, above the age of ten, posting something realistic on this teenage blog. MikeG, take note, you may actually lean something.
