Ever since announcing that she’s knocked up, Jessica Alba has made a point to stay in shape during her pregnancy, which I think is fantastic. Here she is leaving the gym yesterday on Melrose in LA.
no, you human brain tumor- the first three months are the most risky and you’re supposed to take it easy and not stress on what you look like. two self obsessed morons!
Well, Jenn…you can stay on the couch if you like, but those of us who can exercise during pregnancy should for our health, and the health of the baby, and because exercise helps tone the muscles used for delivery which can make for a smoother delivery with less complications and less pain.
Of course not every woman can exercise, but if she is up to it, and her doctor gives her the green light, a mother should exercise to the extent her body is able.
that’s an assumption, isn’t it? do you think i dislike the media’s portrayal of female body images because i’m heavy? probably.
i live in manhattan (endless walking, especially during rush hour), work full time and have 2 kids. i worked until 12/22/06 and had my last child 12/26/06. so much for the couch theory.
No, Jenn. YOU’RE a “human brain tumor” (stupid comeback, really) - it’s just a fact that your has a chance of skin breaking out horribly during pregnancy. The girl has been wearing cover up everyday and this is the first time that we’ve seen her skin break out so badly, that’s ALL I was saying. Shut up.
“me”, or whatever, the post wasn’t aimed at you. why would you think it was, when i said that the first three months are the most risky? RISKY, as in you’re supposed to cut back on a lot of things, including working out, to decrease the chance of miscarriage. it was aimed at carolina. if i wanted to aim it at you, i would have hit the reply button.
Don’t cut out exercise all together, must woman don’t need to. What is needed is certain exercises should not be performed, and other exercises, such as walking, gentle stretches, and squats are very healthy during pregnancy.
i didn’t say cut out, i said cut back. being in the gym every single day when you’re in the early stages of pregnancy is nothing short of stupidity. most people don’t go to the gym to do gentle exercises.
and p.s. i have a friend who’s completely gym obsessed and recently found out she’s pregnant. like genius carolina complimenting jessica alba, this woman doesn’t want to get fat. so guess where she spent christmas? in the e.r. because of needing to be at the gym every day and avoid getting fat. (body image, anyone?) she almost needed a d and c because she was bleeding. and this was the SECOND time it happened, because her need to be attractive is stronger than her need to protect her fetus. yes, you get heavy or heavier during pregnancy. and then after you deliver your presumably and hopefully healthy child, you work on losing it. gym time and worries over YOUR looks should not be the focus during pregnancy. walking is great- i did it constantly through two pregnancies- but working out at the gym is about impact. modifications are necessary. why risk your unborn child that you presumably want? because your need to look unpregnant is stronger? christina aguilera has taken it easy during her entire pregnancy and i would bet she gets healthy again after she gives birth. she seems to actually focus on her child and not her girth. because, you know, she’s PREGNANT, not lazy.

Her skin looks horrible… there’s acne all over it. I suppose that’s because of her hormones reacting from the pregnancy.
But more importantly…WHO’S THAT HUNK OF A MAN!?
