Update: TMZ reports that Mischa Barton was released from the West Hollywood Sheriff’s station at 10:10 AM today. Her parents came and bailed her out and she sneaked into their backseat while hiding her face with a scarf.

People with active addiction don’t think logically. There’s always a certain element of self-sabotage. Why would somebody risk their career? It’s a form of self sabotage. We see a higher incidence of abuse among people who are in the limelight because they’re under tremendous pressure. There’s a tendency to self medicate.
She needs a loved one to take control and get some help. Because of her age, especially, she needs it more so. We can’t allow people to hit rock bottom. We used to think people hit bottom … but sometimes you have to raise a person’s bottom. Their bottom could be death.
