After Jamie Lynn Spears announced her pregnancy at the tender age of 16, Nickelodeon has begun to seriously consider airing a special about sex and love.
Well, I think that’s absolutely wonderful. Do you have any clue how many girls and boy start experimenting or even being sexually active at ages younger than 16?
Here’s a quote by JL from the OK! Interview,
I can’t say it was something I was planning to do right now, but now that it’s in my lap and that it’s something I have to deal with, I’m looking forward to being the best mom I can be. I think my whole life I would have to live with knowing what I did or what I didn’t do. I’m the one who has to live with it for the rest of my life. I put myself in this position, an adult position, so I have to act like an adult and take responsibility for what I did.

I truly wish her well with this. From the OK excerpts I read you can tell she is a “child”
a child should not be doing an article like this….it should be someone like J-Lo who is married and grown, or Nicole Richie who is an adult…..not a baby……she is just a child……her mother is wrong for exploiting her by doing any kind of press on this. it needs to stay private because it is a private matter, because it is concerning a child. when children are abused they don’t show the faces, because their innocence has to be protected at ALL times….. even in this case. even in this case….although she was doing adult activities, she cannot handle the backlash because she is still considered a child in the eyes of the law. her innocence should be protected.
it’s called being the cash cow for her mother and for the magazine. all they care about is money and shock value and getting the scoop. all the adults surrounding her are irresponsible and immature and greedy.
Wow, this is really sad. I can’t say that Jamie Lynn is to blame. She is just a kid. I feel really bad that her childhood has to be cut short and she seemed to have a very promising career…especially amongst her crowd…..I believe a WOMAN has a right to do with what she wants to with her own body……..but in this case you are dealing with a CHILD, not a woman. I feel bad for Jamie Lynn and i don’t blame her at all. She is having a hard time just dealing with the fact that her pregnancy is front page news. a 16 year old is NOT prepared for that. i cannot understand for the life of me why her mother decided it was OKAY to allow her to do an interview regarding her pregnancy. It is on the cover of a major magazine. her mother acts as if this is responsible of jamie lynn. Lynn is still legally responsible for everything this child (J.L) does and she is clearly exploiting her children. that should be kept private. i know her mother could not stop Jamie Lynn from getting pregnant, but I wonder if her mother ever spoke with her about birth control…especially since she knew Jaimie Lynn has been with the same young guy for however how long…., common sense can tell you that if they aren’t having sex, the talk should have occurred so that this kind of thing can be prevented. I am more upset that she allowed the child to be on any cover of a magazine except not related to her show or something. If that story about her selling the story for financial gain is true then she certainly has real issues. I feel really bad for Britney, it makes me feel that her mother is the main cause of why their daughters are in such predicaments. I don’t think Nickelodeon should run her show anymore. It has to show that there are consequences for the actions especially when there is so much money spent on children’s shows and things like that. In the article Jamie Lynn states she wanted to make the right decision for her…..she really in the eyes of the law cannot make that decision for herself. Her mother if she wanted to could have pressed charges against this ‘grown man’ JL is sleeping with. Her mother could have taken her to a doctor against her will……..and legally done it…..if she wanted to…….(i am not saying i agree with that…..) I am just making a point that JL in the eyes of the law cannot make decisions for herself, that is why she is called a ‘minor’. Lynn should take both of her daughters, sit them down and have long talks with them. I can now see why Britney is turning out the way she is…
It seems most people belive the show should be cancelled. Though Nik says they haven’t decided, there is a rumour that they will continue the show. If they do, there may be a strong backlash against the network.
The gist of Lynne’s book seemed to hinge on JL’s supposed success, as if Lynne was trying to clear her name over the Britney issue. As if she was trying to say she’d learned her lesson and done a better job with the younger one. This would seem to prove otherwise. With the backlash against Lynne in the press, this book is sure to be cancelled because it’s obvious no one would buy it.
Yes, Lynne has been deficient in mnay ares, but the biggest one of all is that she covers their arses when they get in trouble. She never makes them deal with the consequences of their own actions. She is doing that again, by saying, “It’s ok JL, you can still go to school and be a huge star, because I’ll baby sit for you. Just go out and make a million dollars for your mommy!”
actually shes what you call an emancipated minor now. which means she can get married, move out, and make those decisions. But she is no longer a minor and her mom cannot make decisions reguarding her grandchild. Also the lynne isnt entitled to force her to the doctor. Sure she can make her go but if JL says she doesnt want her mom to know anything they cannot tell her. Period. there is still confidentiality at risk.
When did JL go to court and get her emancipation, because that has never made the news. Being pregnant does not make you emancipated. She does still live with her mother, and her mother is her manager.
loser you love the dick just like your big sis your brittney two loser fuck off
jon…..seriously get off the blogs with that non-sense….go and comment on something that can relate to you….
This is truely a bad situation. All these spoiled, rich kids messing up their lives. They need a wake up call to see how the real world lives. All the money in the world and still mess things up. I do believe her show should be cancelled. I do not think that a show on teen pregnancys should be aired, either. It is up to kids parents to tell them what they want and apparently Jamies mom did not have the talk. What messed up families!!! I dont have much but I sure am thankful for my family!!
bla bla bla take responsibility bla bla best mom bla bla bla
There are too many not very bright people walking on this Earth. It’s annoying.
Education is important. School is important. Stay busy. Stay in school, y’all. If you have nothing to do and/or are bored, don’t have sex. Read a book.
People don;t have sex because they are bored…they have it because its natural.
People have sex because it’s natural, but also when they are bored. It is no secret that the majority of teen births happen in smaller towns where there are less opportunities, and extra curricular activities for children after school. But this isn’t about boredom alone, it is also about offering children incentive to make something better of themselves than just being a high-school drop out. Obviously, having high school, sports and a tv career was not incentive enough for JL. Hopefully she will stay in school, but as Britney is a drop out it is clear that there is not much incentive in that family to stay in school. And that’s just sad because supposedly Lynne used to be a teacher. It’s seem that she must have been a teacher only because she could do nothing else in a small town, and that she doesn’t care about teaching or higher education since she has never returned to teaching, and does not appear to encourage her daughters to value education.
JL needs to face up to the fact that Nikelodeon can and will fire her. She says she wants to start acting like an adult, well WHEN AN ADULT MAKES A MISTAKE THAT AFFECTS THEIR ABILITY TO WORK, THEY FESS UP TO THEIR BOSS IN PERSON! JL didn’t do that. She admits in the interview that she had not talked to them. No, it was more important to worry about her image in the eyes of her fans, and mommy’s pay check, than to worry about doing right by Nikelodeon. Yes, maybe Lynne talked to them as sshe is the parent. But JL said she has to start acting like an adult, and that means that she needs to act like one, not just say it. They could fire her just for that lack of respect and curtesy to them, for not giving them a heads up that the entire network was going to face a crisis because of her.
Firs of all, Nickalodeaon CANNOT fire her because she is pregnant. If they do, they will face a huge lawsuit as that violates workers rights. You cannot fire a woman for being pregnant. Secondly, how do you know if she didn’t tell her employers about being pregnant. She might have told them after the interview but before it was made public. But it is just like you Kelly1 to take assumptions and turn them into facts.
They CANNOT FIRE AN ADULT for being pregnant. Jamie is a child actress on a network known for wholesome entertainment. They can fire her because she no longer fits thier image. MORE THAN THAT THEY CAN FIRE HER, NOT BECAUSE OF THEPREGNANCY ITSELF, BUT BY HER ACTIONS AFTERWARD. She admitted that she did not talk to Nikelodeon in the interview, so she gave the interview FIRST! That is not how should have handled the situation, and Nikelodeon CAN LEGALLY FIND FAULT for not coming to them first. They can legally find fault for her for igniting a firestorm of controvercy that can and will endanger the future credability of their network. They have been made into liars because they had already released a statement defending her honour when these rumours first appeared. Jamie had known for a long time that she was pregnant and did not tell them while their name was on the line. It is legal for A WOMAN to keep news of a pregnancy to herself, but it is unsafe for her to do so. Consider what would happen if she fainted or had any other problems and they did not know?
They can cancel the show due to her pregnancy, and they do not have to schedule her for any future events or shows until JL can say something more than “I don’t know” about her future, and can show some direction that the studio can count on her sticking around for. They have already moved the filming of this show to her home town so that she could remain better grounded, but that did not work. SINCE SHE HAS BEEN SO IMMATURE AND DISRESPECTFUL, SHE CAN NOT EXPECT THEM TO MOVE HEAVEN AND EARTH FOR HER FOREVER.
Anyway, at her advanced age of 16, there is not much more she could do for this network as a “child actress” and in a year or two they would have shifted focus away from JL, and onto the next 7-10 year old that they could follow for the next several years. Her future as an actress depended on JL finishing up with Nik on good terms, good reputation intact, and moving seemlessly into movies, and other projects just as Hillary Duff is doing now. The move from child actor to adult actor is not an easy one and demands that the person actually know how to act and present themselves as an adult. They can’t just relay on mommy, daddy or big sister’s name anymore (and if you are JL, you better distance yourself from those names anywway), or on simply being cute. You either need to know how to be an actor and be professional, or you don’t get cast.
Unless you are an uneducated bimbo, and then get cast for other things, but few people take yous seriously.
For the longest time, it seemed that JL was going to make that move seamlessly, but this just makes people wonder (for good reason) if she just might fall into the blonde bimbo category like her sister.
Let me put this another way: one things that businesses value most from an employee is loyalty. When JL rusehd out to do PR on her own image by talking to OK, without concern for how it would affect the Network as a whole, what she was doing was disloyal. You don’t bite the hand that feeds you. She wouldn’t be the first person that got fired for being disloyal, child or not. How many other times can Nik expect her to do unathorized interviews that put them in a bind? Perhaps if they had known beforehand, Nik would have liked to have been the ones to break the news. They could have aired the teen-pregnacy show on the same week it was announced and saved Lynne Spears some (not all) of the beating she is getting from the press. They coulde have made a decision about the future of the show before this was announced to the world so that parent, child and Network could have presented on united front before the world rather than a child worried about her image like some bimbo-cheerleader, a mother who seems more interested in $$ than in her child’s welfare, and a Network that must now scramble to keep up with the outrage and shock of the public. Instead, the Network is having to decide the future policies of their Network, handle PR on behalf of themselves and JL, as well as decide whether or not to air a teen-pregnancy show all at once, not to mention they have business as usual that still needs to be done. To say the least, JL’s OK interview has put the network in a difficult situation, and they can legally fire her for her disloyalty, unprofessionalism, and also for Lynne’s lack of professionalism as a over-controlling mom-ager. They have billions of potential child stars knocking at their dorr, they do not have to employ any child who’s mother advises the child to ignore the interests of the network.
jebus, 3 consecutive posts? get a life, you self righteous loser…
I have one, thank you. And in my life I read and study. How about you? Do you often speak without knowing what you are talking about? Did you know that the human brain needs to constantly be learning new things or else it will become tangled and covered with platelets of plaque? It’s true, those who do not use their brains will eventually lose the power to do so.
And you still haven’t figured out what self-righteous means!
wow, you really are full of yourself…read and study huh…platelets of plaque?!? are you really sure you read?! well if you do, i think you should try reading again, cause there’s no such thing as “platelets of plaque” and the human brain doesn’t need to constantly learn new things, it just has to be used(you know, like a muscle)…and how can the brain get tangled. What anatomy book do you read, cause i’ve read like 5 of them already …but you are right on the part that those people who do not use their brains will eventually lose the power to do so…one good example is you…have a nice day.
Drew…do yourself a favor and look up dementia and alzheimers.
uh, I suggest you do the same… once again you are misled.
don’t need to kelly, i already know what it is…maybe you should…
‘I put myself in this position, an adult position, so I have to act like an adult and take responsibility for what I did.’ - Shame Britney cant do that.
jamie lynn seems to know the things to say that will make her sound as though she is dealing with her mistakes, but i wonder how much of it came from her own mouth. that these two children were allowed to live together and that her boyfriend was allowed to come out to california to be with her during his senior year of high school and that he doesn’t seem to have any ambitions or plans… sounds like the girls’ father and like federline. i would’ve handled it by saying to the press, “yes, she’s pregnant and keeping the baby and it’s not the best situation, but we’ll deal with it as a family” instead of running to the nearest tabloid and giving a huge interview. this little girl has NO idea of the realities of becoming a parent, full time, FOREVER. if you can make the adult decision to become a parent, then you can make the decision to use protection…. moby once said britney was sweet, far savvier than people knew, and troubled in ways he didn’t understand. she always seemed to know not to talk about too much, to be impersonal and play both sides of the fence…. welcome to being mommy’s and daddy’s cash cow and trying to be the american sweetheart your label is portraying you as.
Kelly1 sure does love the spears girls!
Only because they are so messed up that they make a great case study on the many mental disorders.
wow, a case study?! you really are amazing..so wait…let me just get a recap…so you read, study, and at the same time, make case studies and the time to bash on britney?!!!? you really mut have an a-maz-ing life…
i made a complete error on my sentence…but that’s okay…people like you wouldn’t be able find anything wrong with it since your brains have errors too.
Drew, stop giving this lunatic your time…. she is quite clearly desperate for attention, and needs to have her intelligence continually validated, hence the lond winded psychobabble posts. Ignore her….
i will…once i’ve shoved enough sticks up her ass…
No Drew. Don’t jump to comclusios.
I read and study a great many things.
But when you are talking about psychology, using an example from pop culture is great because everyone knows these people. I am not the first to do this, and I won’t be the last. Your attempt to demonize something that college professors do around the world shows your ignorance of the subject.
ooooh…i should try making a case study about you…now that would be really amazing…oh…and i am a college professor.
i have to agree with Kelly 1…..whoever believes that Nickelodeon can’t fire her b/c she is pregnant is nuts!!! They totally can and SHOULD!!! I have read that their target audience is 9-12…… Why the heck should they have a show on teen pregnancy if that is their target audience. Girls between 9-12 haven’t even started their cycles…. That would be stupid of them if you ask me. It sounds like Nickelodeon would just be saving face and excusing her pregnancy as a responsible decision, when it is not responsible. Sure 16 year olds are having sex, but are talking about a young child who is on a show that targets 12 year olds….. Lynn better go and hide. I forgot that she was a teacher…..what a mess!!! In that article she talks about working from home so that she can have an income?????? what kind of crap is that???
