I dunno. It kinda makes my stomach turn. I know Britney kinda sets herself up for this crap, but still…. it’s a pretty low blow to bring up a grandmother who died by suicide long before Britney was ever conceived.
I’m a bit confused as to what you’re trying to show us. Are you not the Ruben who used to own WoB? I can’t tell if you feel sorry for her or if you’re just flat out making fun of her. So MAYBE she had sex when she was 14… well, life happens… that was over a decade ago… and JUST NOW the media is “twisting” things around so we can judge her even more and beat her while she’s down… Imagine if a gossip blog was able to find out about every little stupid thing you’ve done in a whole LIFETIME and then posted that chunk within a matter of days… hours… Can you imagine the pressure that she’s dealt with since her first album blew up? Every little freakin’ move she makes…
Regardless of what you feel about her now, that photo in the upper-right-hand corner was definitely not a lie. Despite whatever has gone on in her own personal life, she was able to put on one hell of a show back in the day. By the time “Slave” came around, I think many people had started to second-guess the whole “wholesome virgin” thing, but she was so damn exciting up on that stage that we were able to accept it. I think Britney always had the legitimate passion and drive to be an entertainer… this wasn’t the case of a crazy stage mom forcing her poor kid into the biz… Just from observing interviews, I honestly don’t think Lynne would be the type to push her children into something like that. I’m sure the last thing she expected was for people to try and compare her teenage daughter to the likes of Madonna, and I doubt most 16-year-old girls could easily handle the pressure that was suddenly thrown at Britney. She went from being on a basketball team at some high school in Louisiana to becoming an international icon overnight. Yes, the prospect sounds exciting… and obviously she must have been on cloud nine for a time… she legitimately seemed so happy; there was such a brightness that attracted people to her… but there is a lot of growing up that happens between the ages of 16 and 25, and our extreme obsession with celebrity, especially within the last decade, completely warped hers. It’s as if she’s been some big science experiment for America to play with and observe. I recently saw out-takes from her “Chaotic” tv show, and while the clips are entertaining at first, at a second glance, it’s kind of horrifying… When she asks if the movie “Spawn” has come out yet, and then goes on to say she feels as though she’s missed on life… that whole “time travel thing”… “Spawn” came out in ‘97, which was the year she started out her recording career… it’s as though she literally hadn’t realized how fast her life had flown by, and she hadn’t gotten the time to reflect on any of the moments that were passing her by. All of a sudden, K Fed is becoming the “golden boy” in this custody situation… re-watch those clips, especially the one where he talks about Shar, and you realize that he’s basically lying to her face, on camera. Watch the Dianne Sawyer interview from a few years back, and then watch the one with Matt Lauer. Looking back, especially now, it’s almost painful to watch… I think there’s been so much deception and hurt that’s gone on in her life. I’m not saying she’s perfect. No one is. But putting shit like that on the cover of Us Weekly is going to do nothing but make things even more difficult in the long-run. They’re just looking for trouble, and the more that happens, the more they can cash in on it.
I know I’m just a nobody in the whole scheme of things. I’ve never met this girl… who knows what’s really going on. But these are just some observations I’ve made.
It’s really a tragedy.
I don’t think I could have said that better myself. Britney is an entertainer through and through irregardless of what has happened in her life behind the scenes. As they say “the show must go on” and thats what she did, put on a hell good show, which she enjoyed doing. No matter how forceful a stage parent is, if she didn’t want to do it, she wouldn’t have performed.
What is the point of bringing up these stories now…wouldn’t it have been more scandalous to have leaked these stories like ten years ago when they would have been more impactful??? Just more people, that she probably knew - and at some stage trusted selling stories to earn a quick buck off of her…
How is she supposed to pick up the pieces of her life if people keep unraveling it?
You know what . . . aside from everything I say about Britney and I don’t agree with her choices of late, I have to say yo uput her very new and refreshing spin on things. Thankyou.

Perhaps having her on the cover of Us Weekly like that might help to finally break her enough to make her hit rock bottom and get some help. I’m actually kind of revulsed by this magazine cover, to be perfectly honest (and I’m a pretty big critic of Britney’s life skills and decision making these days, although I really dislike being classified as “a hater” because I don’t hate her), but perhaps it might rattle her cage enough that she realises there really is a problem and she finally decides to do something about it.
One can hope, anyway.
I’ve said before that I would love to see her get her act together, and I mean it, but the only way she’s likely to do that is if she does, indeed, hit rock bottom.
this was perfectly, brilliantly said, especially the science experiment part. i have said for months she looks to be suffering from mental illness, but everyone enjoys ripping this clearly suffering young woman to pieces. it’s like the lottery by shirley jackson- her number was chosen, and it’s not for anything good.

The suicide grandma is verifiable by local newspapers. It’s not made up. It’s also true that depression and other kinds of mental illness can run in families, and it’s true that Britney’s father is an addict (which can also run in families). Talk about stupid.
