If Britney’s album would have been released this week, it would have come in #5, so I’m sure the release date was changed in order to secure her a top spot while nobody big was releasing anything else.
Anyway, I don’t think she deserves success…..primarily because she clearly doesn’t want it nor could she give two shits about it. as harsh as you put it….I agree 100% with you. Britney truly has screwed up her own life….and all that we thought was her……was really just people around her creating her.
For the record selling over 370,000 copies for britney Spears in 2 weeks without any promotion in 2007 is like selling 900,000 copies for britney Spears in 2001 WITH promotion.

Keep making excuses to make her look better… But lets face it, even in today’s world, that’s not a great outting. Not when there ARE those who can top 5 & 6 hundred thousand in one week, and then keep selling large amounts in the weeks that follow.
It took Brit fans buying multiple CDs and downloads to get those mediocre results so you should just quit now while you are ahead. The only number that means anything is total sales. She only got a #2 in the US because they shopped the release date, not knowing that she would be up against the Eagles. All that number means is that no other major releases came out to compete with her last week. It doesn’t mean that she is the best artist out there.
Piece of Me, Break the Ice and Toy Soldier will more than likely all be released as singles in the coming months. Album sales fall and rise and fall and rise. Rihanna has yet to see a #1 album and her Good Girl Gone Bad has not even made it to 1,000,000 despite the success of Umbrella and now Hate that I Love You. Album sales are not everything. Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson and Backstreet Boys have all had their albums bomb recently and nobody is saying they are over. The holiday season will help sales.
Well, considering the Backstreet Boys didn’t promote their album either. I’m a huge fan of them (for reasons a britney fan would NEVER understand because I’ve always loved their harmonies, I love sappy love songs, and they’re the nicest guys I’ve ever met….) But I’m a huge fan and I wasn’t even sure if the album would be released on the day it was slated to be… The Backstreet Boys have other things going on in their lives besides starbucks and taco bell runs…and yes, they’ve moved past where they once were. But their album is really good, even without Kevin in the group. The harmonies are still tight, and the songs are slammin’…they’ve got a nice vibe going on. Don’t diss the BSB…they’ve got something going for them Britney doesn’t, even if they are “forgotten” by the main scene…their heads are screwed on straight, the talent is still there, and they care about something OTHER than having their picture taken all the time!!!
What’s your point? Rihanna sold a million copies, twice what they’re predicting for Brit’s CD, and Rihanna hasn’t had a #1 only because she had steep competition that week. It’s purely luck and scheduling. Obviously Rihanna is twice as popular as Brit. If Brit is the pop queen then Rihanna must be the pop goddess!
Rihanna pop godess? First Rihanna will never be as culturally relevant as Britney Spears. Second, what stiff competition did Rihanna have to face? She had the biggest song of the summer and amazing press yet she still failed to sell a million. Britney faced the Eagles who are huge in the U.S. That’s stiff competition.
Promotions have a lot to due with record sales. She is not promoting this album and it still managed to make it to the #2 spot. Not to mention that most people have the album illigally because of the links so why buy it. The album is actually pretty dam good and ive been listening to it all week.
Um, but if ya’ll had only bought one copy instead of 2 or more a piece, she wouldn’t have debuted that high. And I’m sure a lot of the sales from last week were from people buying yet another copy to KEEP her there. The album, while some of the best work of her career, still sucks ass…it’s horrible!!!
