On Friday, the Writer’s Guild finally announced that they were going on strike. After feeling underpaid, unappreciated, and abused, the writers finally teamed up and are protesting working indeterminably until wages are set for the new media — internet downloads of TV shows and movies.
Why does this matter and why should you care? Well, the people who work behind the scenes in television and film don’t get enough praise. They are the very same people that write for your favorite TV shows, such as The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, Dancing With The Stars, Heroes, Grey’s Anatomy, and the list goes on. This means that from Monday onward, most of these shows will be reruns and if the strike lasts until 2008, then shows that will be in production will also be affected.
And if you despise reality TV as much as I do, then please get your noose out now because if there are no writers, that means more reality shows since the little suckers already count for 33% of primetime programming.
Hopefully, the union can settle this issue quickly so that our world can go back to having their distractions from life.

I support the Writer’s Guild 100%! Strike as long as you have to people! This has been a long time coming!
I don’t even watch any of those shows!
LOL it’s true. I have no time to watch TV (only a few minutes to an hour) to surf the Internet.
The writers can go on strike.
I watch way too much tv. The r striking because u don’t need a writer for a reality show. Reality Shows r taking over the networks.
PanicK?
Is that kind of like panic?
