It’s about the entertainment factor! The fact that she is the BRITNEY SPEARS. Even Larry Rudolph said “If it was only about how well you sing, then we’d be recruiting people in churches from the south.” Britney is an entertainer and she’s very capable of being what she was before. Everyone seems to be holding out for it. Who knows, I just don’t doubt the girl, shes done it all before and got herself to the top of the world and I think if she really finds that motivation for hard work, she can do it again. I just don’t think she is motivated now because of all the hurt in her personal life. Shes in a bad state. But she is one of a handful of entertainers who can say they’ve been the best and that’s why people still talk about her.
People still talk about her because she shows her vag to the papz. No one gives a damn about her entertainment value other than as a pathetic clown they want to laugh at.

Which part of her voice means she can sing. The fact that she has NO range what so ever? The fact that her live vocals are so wobbly and she has NO control over them to keep them from being so? No, you’re absolutely right…not everyone is Mariah or Whitney or Kelly or Carrie or Celine or Faith…but damn…at least even the not great singers can actually hit more than two or three notes in only one octave…and there is SOME support underneath it all so that the vocals are controlled and even….
actually her record label makes her sing with this weak breathy pop voice. britney innately has a deep bellowy voice, but that’s not what sells. the music industry strips most people of their talent and just makes them sing in a commercial manner, rather than to the extent of their actual singing voice.

Been Awhile isn’t bad… Heard Radar a couple of days ago, and it’s not a bad one either…as far as this type of music goes… State of Grace could be good if it had been produced and made into a different kind of song…it sounds like there’ll be an honest to God message in the song and not just nonsense lyrics, and her vocals were produced very well because she’s not that good of a singer…but it shouldn’t still have the techno/hip-pop vibe goin’ on. But overall, the album…ICK!! Why does she have to do this techno laced with hip-pop with all the “slammin’ beats” and “melody free” crap she does. It doesn’t even fit into any real genre, which would be ok, but it’s like she can’t let go of her bubblegum years, wants deseperately to move on to hip-hop, but can’t carry a tune well enough to be either, so she has to cover it, lace it, and mask it into something that’s just not that great. THe lyrical content is crap, plain and simple…not other way to say it. There are no melodies. The accompanying music is SO simple there’s, again, absolutely no depth. And the beats…it’s the only thing she’s got going for her, and that’s all thanks to the names she brings in to work for her. This album could do, and just may do, very well for her…it’s her best work to date, but based on what she’s released up to now, that’s not saying a whole hell of a lot.
ONE MONTH UNTIL GARTH…THE ULTIMATE ENTERTAINER!!!
Exactly. there are two many ACTUAL entertainers, musicians and singers coming out with something other than stale, recorded years ago, cookie cutter, disposable and forgettable cookie cutter dance music. There will be so many people rushing out to buy music next month that it will be surprising if little miss strip-ney even makes it on to the charts.
Carolina stop leading people to believe things that aren’t true. Yes a lot of these songs WILL be on the album. Rightfully so. But these are not the final shortlist, or w’e u call it. It sad. I dont like any of them but Gimmie More. What happened to the chart topping, ass kicking pop princess we all used to know and love? There are more beats on this song thenn her voice. You experiment on one or 2 songs…this whole cd isnt doin it for me. She said it best when she sang it in Mona Lisa… “everybody’s watchin, as she starts to fall”

has anyone noticed that the music in the song ,Everybody, is taken from the Eurythmics Sweet Dreams are Made of These. I was able to hear Annie Lenox’s voice faintly in the backround. Reminds me of what Jessica Simspon did a while back.

I found a copy of her song, “Baby Boy” & it’s heartrending. I LOVE the song.
Who knows if the drug / bad parenting stories are true. It is really sad — there are at least three parties who will profit from Britney’s demise… K-Fed, her mom, and her sister. And — now they’re around… pretending to support her, but in reality, pushing her over the edge.

Most of these songs will somehow grow on you. They have to be complemented by video/tours, etc…
With all the stuff that is going through her barely-hanging-there psyche, I don’t know if this album will be successful. Post-divorce syndrome, ongoing custody battle, mental derangement, social withrawal, Phil-Spectoresque eccentricity, addictions, lawsuits, on, and on… I don’t think she can handle the press and media and performance. Whew! I am having chest pains just writing about this.
Nevertheless, she still has it. She just needs a gigantic mental therapy intervention, i.e., Electric Shock, Lithium, Dr. Phil or Dr. Laura….

The New album is gonna be two disc, these 17 songs have made the cut, not sure if there are in this order but they are for sure of the album, missing off this list is “tell me what your sippin on”, “we can do it (get naked)”, the intro and outro, “cry” “boyfriend”, “out of this world”, and a couple of others, but yeah, all these songs are real, and have made the two disc cut

Shitney’s vocals on “Let Go” are actually adequate for the 30-sec sample. She can sing. Remember “Star Search”, she could belt it out. I don’t know now if she could still do that. Smoking is really not good for your health especially now that it appears that she may have some sort of “Obstructive Pulmonary Disease”-inhaler.
That inhaler despite what was reported could not be prescribed by any law-abiding Physician for reasons other than improve your breathing.
Bulimia will also kill your voice.
The catchiest ones to me are:
“Been A While” (I think this one would make a good single.)
“Everybody” (I like the Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams” sample. Hopefully this one will be a single.)

I liked Cold As Fire the first time I heard it but something is sorta bugging me about it now. It sounds like birds chirping in the background. It drives me nuts and it doesn’t really sound good so hopefully that won’t be in the final version.
it’s sad that the music is there. She has what it takes to make a comeback now it’s only up to her to make it. The CD so far is good.Her first single is hot. But the music video and her VMA performance is lacking! What happened to the Britney with amazing videos and performances? She has the material to have an amazing comeback but what is wrong with her? Yes she’s going through all this drama but it’s mainly her fault. Divorces aren’t this bad but it’s because everyone is against her for her craziness that there is so much drama in her life. She needs to get help period.

Britney can sing better than any of you on here. All haters are just jelous. The fact that Britney is having huge success with gimmie more with everything that is going on her personal life speaks volumes about her still being popular and having loads of fans. I am sure that when she has dealt with all these pesonal issues she will be truly back to what she was, she is already on her way back to the top. I am orinally from england and i am not saying that the media there are not mean but they are no where near as harsh as the americans. As far as the haters and medias actions towards Britney this country makes me sick. I am so shocked coz in england this country has come across as so friendly and leting everyone live their life without judging and yet you all are so mean to her. Britney is a human being just like you and is going through something very hard right now and all you do is be mean to her. Leave her alone, please. it’s a pretty good collection and i have heard early britney singing and she isn’t bad- sort of like nelly furtado, with a nice voice, but kind of alto. i don’t think this is bad at all and i don’t know why carolina was such a huge fan once if she thinks britney could never sing. she is more of an entertainer, that’s for sure… or was. what happened at the vmas has me wondering if she’ll ever own the stage again. i hope this album and reuniting with her mom are some baby steps in the right direction.

I was surprised at how much I liked the music, especially since “Gimme More” aside, I’ve been underwhelmed by the new Britney music I’ve heard lately (”Piece of Me”; “Mona Lisa”; “Cold As Fire”; etc.). Even though I used to be a huge fan of Britney in the past, I’ve really stopped paying attention to her ill-fated antics of late. She’s got some pretty great material here, and if she weren’t all over the place, she could have a chance at a genuine comeback (an actual tour with actually good performances, videos, etc; not just selling a bunch of albums).
My thoughts:
THE BAD:
*”Cold As Fire”=While the song sounds like it’s unfinished, the melody sticks in your head (in an annoying way) and the lyrics, especially coming from Britney, are RIDICULOUS. Please drop this one off of the CD.
*”Get Back”=allegedly an outtake from the “Britney” album. It’s OK, nothing new here.
*”Piece of Me”=I’ve heard the whole song, it’s repetitive, and dull. Again, nothing special here.
THE GOOD:
*All of these songs are danceable, and would be excellent songs on an album, they just didn’t pop out at me after one or two listens.

*”A State of Grace”= sounds like vintage Madonna, yet somehow new at the same time. It’s definitely a dance song, but kind of a trippy quasi-ballad at the same time…like “Touch of My Hand”, my favorite song from “In The Zone”. LOVE IT.
*”Radar”=Sounds a lot like the stuff on Hilary Duff’s “Dignity” album; good dance music, but not incredibly original.
*”Heaven On Earth”=sounds like late ’90s Kylie, but also “new”. Really dancey, I love that Britney’s starting to go more and more in this direction.
*”Let Go”=I agree with Carolina, if this were done by a “real” singer it could be amazing….although, I have to say, I like this because it’s the last processed of all of the songs, and Britney actually sounds somewhat decent.
*”Stupid Things”=Britney+Pharrell always amazing. HOT.
*”Been A While”=another fun dancey song.
*”Gimme More”=No, it’s no “Toxic,” not even a “Slave”, but you know you still love it :-)

its ok its not great and i really only like one or to songs…she could have done better she has done better i dont really like brithey spears but i usually like her music and this album sucks but half of the songs on here are beats from other songs that other people and i think that one of then is one of her beats just remixed i am not impressed and it dosent help that she cant sing eather she sounds like she sings out of her nose and its all one tone and then she has to cover the fact that she cant sing with background vocals the people who sing the background should be getting all her money not her i dont know why people like her but i dont know her so its easy to say bad things about her it sucks that she has to go through all the stuff that she has gone through and then come out with a really bad album if she was in the right state of mind the album would not been bad because she would be clear headed and not worried about everything alse in her life but o well i wish the best for her and hopefully the next album will be way way better so she can redeam her self from all the stuff she has done

These comments about “real” singers make me laugh. People with generic belting-style voices are a dime a dozen. They’re in cabaret, on cruise ships and trying to win talent shows all over the world, every day of the year. And who the hell wants to listen to them? They all sound the same.
The thing a lot of idiots (and the would-be “experts” here) can’t seem to grasp about Britney is that she knows all about that kind of singing but she grew out of it a long time ago. She is now far more interested in subtle inflections and variations and in exploring all the other ways of delivering a song.
“Let Go” could easily have been a Diana Krall song and her version would have turned out fine - worthy but dull. Somebody like Aguilera would just have over-sung the poor little song and ground it into the dirt with her unsubtle fake-soul. The only reason the song is noticeable at all is that Britney sings it with such intensity and edge.
It amuses but also irritates me that so many losers here have so much time on their hands that they can devote it to making adverse comments on an artist they don’t even like. And as for Britney’s fans being some small deluded bunch…. LMAO! There are MILLIONS worldwide. Probably more than for any other artist.
