I guess it’s time to report some rather good news on Britney. We have obtained some rumored and un-confirmed “confidential” information about Britney’s upcoming MTV Video Music Award performance in Las Vegas on September 9th.
Here’s what we found out:
- She will not open the show, she will close it.
- The performance will be a medley of a new ballad titled “Cry” followed by her new single “Gimme More”.
- It will allegedly be one of her most “complex” performances to date.
- She is set to dance in and out of mirrors which will make her appear and disappear at different areas of the stage (guided by Criss Angel).
- Dance rehearsals are currently underway in Las Vegas (sans Britney)
- Some dancers will be rigged and suspended in mid-air.
- The performance includes a reggaeton style instrumental break down.
Even though Britney performing at the VMA’s has never been officially confirmed, the fact that Billboard.com has reported a new single drop around the same week of the VMA’s adds a level of credibility to everything. Just thought I should point that out.

I pretty much agree with you here. I’ve always thought her VMA performances and tour shows were impressive. However, there were many people and teams coordinating those things. Everything, from the technical elements right down to the costumes, was handled by teams of people. I’ve read that she has been shopping for things to wear for this performance. That doesn’t sound too promising when everything she wore in previous performances looked custom made for her and unique. At least they didn’t seem like things you just buy off the rack, VMA performance ready. We’ve seen what happens when she puts together her own outfits.

It just all seems so last minute so I wonder how good it can be if even a week and a half before a huge performance she still looks common.
I’m honestly surprised she’s not hauling out the pink bra, short white skirt and the white go-go boots for this performance too. I’m surprised and I’ll admit that right now. However, I know whatever she chooses will be absolutely cringeworthy because that seems to be the style Britney aims for every single day.

Sadly, I see that as a possibility IF the stories about her leaving photo shoots and interviews due to being paranoid about people talking about her are true. If she does bail, better to bail before the performance than during it while everyone is watching. Yikes.

actually she was seen around town NOT rehearsing. her dancers are the ones practicing of course. and that is a fact not just tabloid talk, i have friends who saw her partying it up. she has a serious alcohol and drug problem that we as a society and her family only perpetuated in order for entertainment, and in the case of her family, for money and fame. yet another life we’ve destroyed in hollywood…

The performance by Britney tonight at the VMA’s was strange-it seemed like she was out of it-she almost fell a few times and she looked like she was marking the dance moves the entire time. What is most unfortunate is that I think the music community and the public at large would have embraced her come back for the most part and given her another chance but she didn’t even seem to put much effort in or care-and the lip synching was terrible. At this point, anyone who watches, buys or cares are just her puppets because clearly she has feels no obligation to give it her all.
That was the worst performance I’ve ever seen from Brit. I’ve been to her concerts and even with the lip singing she usually puts on a spectacular show. Well, in this case she truely disappointed me. She acted as if she didn’t want to be there. She wasn’t into her own music and seemed so self conscience about her hair and outfit. This is someone who has been performing for years and she acted like such a amateur tonight!!! If this was so suppose to be her comeback then I’m really not impressed!!! What happened to you Brit???? Get your personal life together first!!! All you did was confirm that its probably over for your career with a performance like that. Now you have one more added insult to everything else thats been going on in your life. GET IT TOGETHER!!!

Britney’s performance was extremely UNDERwhelming. She looked like she was just walking though it. No standing ovation, just some tired obligatory applause - probably just because the “applause” lights were on. Her dancers outshined her. She did NOT take command of that stage like she used to. It was embarassing to watch.
This was the worst performance from any person that i have EVER seen. Did u see her extensions??? TERRIBLE!!!! And she needed to hit the gym a little bit harder before she performed in panties and a bra…..
I am tired of all of the Britney bashing. All of the nasty comments by the morning news shows and Sarah Silberman’s insults were rude, nasty and very unnecessary but I guess these news shows and Sarah Silverman count on bashing others to get ratings instead of offering real talent and real news. Regardless of what people expected, Britney still looked amazing and has made a great comeback. Perhaps her comeback did not fit into your preconceived notions but it was still a great comeback considering where she was last year. If any of you nasty and hurtful people think that you can do better maybe you should contact MTV to open the show next year. Small minded insecure people bash others to make themselves feel better.
