On Thursday, both Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie got the breaks of their lives. Lohan will not be charged with any felonies and will get to spend 1 day in the can. Nicole Richie took the opportunity to surrender herself to the Lynwood Jail while all eyes were on Linday Lohan’s verdict. Smart move for sure.
Richie spent only a little bit over an hour in a cell before being released due to overcrowding (and most likely because she is pregnant).
That’s it, long story short. They both got away with it, and I’m sure prosecutors are fuming, but, that’s just the way it is. There must have been more than just the hand of the law involved here. Special treatment was granted to the both for sure, especially with the record they both have.
Even though Paris Hilton was an exception, she was also made into an example.
Bottom line, is this fair?

wow, a clavicle picture. no, paris was definitely made into an example and her crime was much less than nicole richie’s. i don’t like any of them, but nicole richie has been caught under the influence again and again- shrugs her shoulders, and says, yep, i screwed up again. did i mention i’m pregnant? the woman was caught driving under the influence YET AGAIN less than a year ago. she must be laughing her bony butt off. once again, she gets away with a crime and yet it looks like she was willing to “do her time”, as she kept saying. oh, it’s not HER fault it was less than an hour. and lindsay is an addict, nice she admits it, but, again, she has been caught repeatedly driving under the influence and last time she screamed, “it wasn’t me! it was the black kid!” what did she think would happen to that poor guy when she, the white film star, said something like that? these two haven’t done their last drugs and they will be caught again while DUI and what will the law’s excuse be then? paris, whom i have no love for, was driving with a suspended license and gets a month, and these two repeatedly drive DUI and get nothing? it doesn’t even live in the same universe as fair.

I’d like to point out one thing, Paris got off with probation and no jail time for her DUI arrest and violated that probation, not once but twice, that is why she went to jail. Although Nicole and Lindsey got off easy they took responsibility and pleaded guilty to their charges. There is a difference.

she said in a mag she was bulimic and now we know she was on crack and i think they are slightly altered in addition to that. she tried to say she didnt say she was bulimic and theatened to sue if memory serves me right but once she relized they had a tape recording she gave up!
the photos are a little altered, for affect, but this was the era when they were snorting cocaine together, and never eating.
The pictures of LL and NR are old ones. I think this picture was takenback in the day when Rachael Zoe was their stylist. Both girls look much healthier now as far as their size.
I think there are bigger issues of “getting away with stuff” on a political scene with this present administration. If Karl Rove and Dick Cheney are walking free after blatant acts of treason, I think its fine for the girls to walk too.
Unlike Paris and Lindsay — Nicole really has changed her life around. Shes never out partying or anything anymore. hasnt been for a while. Thats why I think she deserves a break — plus shes pregnant.

You have to have knowledge of the law to understand this. KC (posted above) has it right. Paris violated probation. Nicole and La Lohan have not (at least not yet). Fair? Probably not. But the law all the same. So…please everyone quit trying to compare! It looks like Lohan and Nicole should have received the longer sentence, but read the law books in CA.
You don’t have to have a shred of law knowledge to know that had they been poor, black men in L.A. they would have had the fullest punishment dealt out to them as possible. Until celebs quit recieving preferential treatment NOT COMPARED TO EACH OTHER BUT IN COMPARISON TO THE AVERAGE CITIZEN, we can expect to see them keep breaking the law because this is PROOF THAT THEY CAN AND WILL GET AWAY WITH IT, OR RECIEVE ONLY A SLAP ON THE WRIST.
Also, one other thing (which really does no fall in the law books, but, Paris showed a total “I don’t care” attitude ~ like she was above all of this. She arrived in court late and acted like it was okay. That pissed the Judge off…and rightfully so. She showed no respect for the judical system.

No, it is not fair, one bit! But, I have just come to the realization that this is just how it is in this Celebrity Obsessed country we live in. Where money and power (?) are treated much much better than us regular folks. I think Nicole has changed, she is having a baby, into a smart person who knows what not to do. LL on the other hand, she seems sincere with the statement she released, but who knows if she even said one of those words. I really think she is still saying to herself, “See, I was right, I’m a celebrity, I can do whatever I want”. And she was obviously right. I am not going to care about this injustice any longer. This is how it is in our country, and there isn’t anything I can do about it. I will just stay out of trouble, it’s not very hard, and I will live my life the best way I know how, and that is not to act like Lindsay Lohan, or any of Hollywood for that matter. I read this crap for entertainment at work, (my job can be quite boring!) and just take it at face value - for entertainment purposes only. I just don’t know why our country is obsessed with celebs so much, it is kinda disgusting! How we all follow these peoples lives, every move they make, and try to live vicariously through them. I think of it as like going to the zoo. Why do people like to see monkeys and other animals and like to watch them in their little cages and behind the glass? The world may never know, but they are still fun to watch. People even pay money to see them (i.e.buying a magazine with pictures). Perfect example…last time I went to a zoo, I took a camera. Looking back at the pictures I took, I realized that I only took pictures of animals that were doing stupid things. I even had pictures of turtles that were humping, and also two marmosets that were humping. Almost without thinking…I took pictures of things that people would normally not see unless watching the Discovery Channel or going to the zoo themselves. I don’t know why the world is so bent on the lives of celebrities, but maybe it has something to do with going to the zoo,lol, that is my observation. =)

Okay, I really like Nicole Richie. But imo this isn’t fair. I wish we lived in a world where everybody got treated equally. Doesn’t matter if you’ve got millions of dollars in your bank account, if you’re middle class, or if you don’t have two dimes to rub together. It’s not right for the rich and famous to get the free ticket out. Some people are gonna argue and say that at least Nicole went to jail and Lindsay’s going to jail. Nicole spent 82 MINUTES in jail. Linday will probably serve 15 minutes (out of her 1 day sentence). How the hell is Lindsay gonna realize her mistakes after being in jail for 15 minutes? Hell, she could sleep 15 minutes off. I hope to god that Nicole’s maturing and growing up since she has a baby on the way. I hope that keeps her in line. But Lindsay’s probably just gonna go back out and fuck it up again and we’ll see another slap on the wrist treatment. Back to my original message–it’s a wrong message to be sending out to the Americans that money and fame can get you out of anything. What’s gonna happen when one of these young/troubled Hollywood starlets goes out and kills somebody? Are they gonna spend 5 minutes in jail or do some serious time? Lindsay needs to be brought down a notch because I strongly dislike the statement she said about being a celebrity and not getting in trouble. That’s fucked up. You know what i haven’t heard anyone address is the whole kidnapping and car-jacking issue behind Lindsay’s little car trip. Also, wasn’t she threatening the life of the woman she was following? Does anyone know why this wasn’t’ addressed in the decision? She didn’t merely get caught drunk driving - there were huge circumstances surrounding the drunk driving. The boys said that she took the keys from them (car-jacking), told them to get back in the car (kidnapping) and drove recklessly, thus threatening their lives. Also, she kept saying she was going to kill her assistant.
