According to the Post Chronicle, Britney Spears was set to do an interview with Allure Magazine to defend herself against rumors and tell the world she’s ready for her big comeback. Britney, however, just walked off the set, very similarly to the episode with OK! Magazine.
Linda Wells, Allure Magazine’s Editor in Chief, explained:
I thought we could present the profile as her comeback. Perhaps Britney’s story would be redemptive, like those of Angelina Jolie, Drew Barrymore and Mariah Carey before her.
Not only did Brit take photos from the interview and just walk off, she’s also missed 4 scheduled interviews with writer Judith Newman. Her ‘comeback’ story has yet to be told.Allure decided to title what they did have; “Britney Spears: Tells Us Nothing and Everything”.

Maybe….People has treated Britney with kid gloves in the past, however even they have been more blunt concerning her recent scandals. If she’s not to pissed off at their changing attitude towards her than that’s a good bet. However, with Britney it’s always a big promotion with just a tiny feed out at the end.

Then why show up for an interview? She’s published pictures of herself that she’s had privately done before, so why give herself bad press just for this? She didn’t plan to walk away. She chickened out. Those menacing questions will be waiting there for her. People will still want to know.

You can’t hide mental illness and/or drug use forever. Britney fans have said this over and over again, “Britney’s albums do not sell if they are not promoted.” How can Jive promote an album if Britney walks away from interviews, acts crazy on the set, gets nervous when asked personal questions about her life, and when she’s had mishap after mishap that the press are going to want to talk to her about. Even the fans and the media expert have said it, “The best thing that BRitney can do for her career is disappear for awhile.” and yet because Britney insists upon flaunting her “fame” to the public she is singlehandedly destroying her career.
Well, since Britney footed the bill for her new video herself, one has to wonder exactly how much promotion Jive is going to do for her in the long run and how close her ties with that studio currently are (or aren’t). They clearly didn’t support that video - small wonder, since every decision she’s made for herself in the past few years, both personally and artistically, has been a sheer disaster. If they’re firmly behind her and plan to aggressively promote her, then why do they have “no comment” about anything she’s tried to do creatively in recent weeks? The silence from Jive is deafening, and (ironically) it speaks volumes.

These questions aren’t gonna go away, yall. Either she needs to disappear from Hollywood forever or she needs to step up to the bat and answer the questions and hope that once they’re somewhat answered they’ll start fading away. You can’t do the shit Britney’s doing and not go to an interview and not be asked about it. I honestly don’t even know how she can convincingly bullshit her way out of the questions. She’s gonna have to play the truth card and practice what she preaches if she vows to get her shit together. So far we’ve seen the sermons from Britney about knowing what she has to do, etc. We haven’t seen any actions that back up those sermons.

Pretty much. Take the car accident she recently had. Situations could’ve been reversed in that very incident. It could’ve easily been her kids in her car with her instead of her dog and a totally different situation. She could’ve hit something besides a parked car and ended up paralyzing or killing herself or her kids.

I think theres an underlying reason. She keeps inching towards an interview — then backing out…thats not necessarily CRAZY…seems more like shes mortified of what they’ll write — good or bad. Poor kid cant pick up a magazine without someone referencing her in some way form shape or fashion. I heard Ryan Seacrest mention how Britney accidentily backed into a parked car on the radio today, and he goes “Don’t worry…the kids are safe…they were on top of the roof safe and sound”….totally uncalled for. Now whos to say that allure wont try to bash her? They’ll get more reads from a negative article than a postive one.
And that’s why I think she needs to explain everything when she does get her shit together. And don’t act like a retard about it or it will turn into something negative. Don’t play it off like the whole thing was a “role”. She might regain some sympathy and she might make herself feel a bit better if she just comes out with everything. And next time avoid any pitfalls that people warn her about. And avoid whoring it out for the general public to start with. I’d say the second option is the most important. Yes, I agree with you on that. Britney has never been 100% honest about her life, and I think there is a reason for that. There is something so frightening, and embarassing that she doesn’t want people to know. Either she knows she’s a phony and/or there’s domestic abuse/ mental illness/ drug use that she hasn’t come to terms with.
First she came from “the picture perfect family.” Now we hear she never liked her dad. Ok, we know tons about what Lynn did wrong, but never what Jamie did to piss Britney off. People don’t just hate their parents for no reason. I have three hunches: 1)molestation, 2) he’s the only person that ever said no to her and it drives her up the wall because no one will give a shyte if this is the real reason whys he hates him or 3) the man was an alcoholic who could never keep a job, they spent more money than they should have to kick start Britney’s career and at an early age BRitney had the knowledge that her paren’t marraige and the happiness of her family rested on her making $$, or maybe all thre or lord knows what the problem is, but there is something there.
Also, remember all that build up about the “Letter of Truth” that ended up being nothing. For the tiny amount of correspondence that Brit has given her fans in the last two years, that was an awful big build up for her to go on and on about how she took forever to write the letter and Kevin called her “Harvard” because of it. I think there was a letter, I think Brintey used it to scare the hell out of someone into doing what she wanted them to do which was her mother? her producer? Either that or she exaggerated and lied about the letter just to cause a stir, which is the only way Btit knows how to keep people’s interrests.
Then Brit goes out on a wire, in an mag saying how she experimented with drugs, but on tv she gets all serious and refuses to say what drugs, when and with whom, saying only that she had been with people who used drugs. That’s not experimentation, that’s simple exposure. Now we find out that lots of people she has been around have used or admitted to drugs (Justin, Kevin,Paris, Lindsay, Nicole Richie). She once said that family secrets came out while she was pregnant….and those are????
In fact, pick up any interview Brit’s ever done. None of them are real deep, sincere or personal. For someone who has no problem airing her vag to a sea of papz, this is awfully close minded of here. There is something there she hasn’t dealt with, and she can’t talk about, even when she wants to defend herself against so called “Fake” rumors, the truth of the matter is something in the end, that she DOESN’T WANT US TO KNOW.
well, if you think about it, she’s exposing herself in the only way she seems to be able to. i believe she’s exposing her pain in the only way she seems to know how to. i don’t believe that she deliberately flashed herself- i think she just was beyond caring about herself. certainly something’s going on; someone who seeks out random hookups has something in her past. silencing oneself is also sometimes a person who’s been abused. i tend to believe she’s manic-depressive, myself, but who knows? weak impulse control, roller coaster emotions, poor decision making, lack of interest in one’s appearance- she’s kind of textbook and it’s hard to see in someone who accomplished so much and had such a bright future once.

She certainly has the most protective fanbase I’ve ever in my life seen. Maybe protective isn’t the word I should be using. I’m in my 20s and I guess I could say I’m kind new to the whole fanbase game. When I was growing up I liked a bunch of older celebs. I still love the older celebs. Let me give everybody an example so yall will know what I’m talking about. I enjoy Andy Griffith and his tv shows. The people I went to school with probably thought I was absolutely crazy because not too many people probably even know who Andy is. It’s not like Andy Griffith is in the press every day. It’s not like he’s gonna do something crazy or stupid and create a huge scandal at his age, ya know? Andy probably has very few fansites/websites devoted towards him or his career. So it’s not like you could pop in on the internet and do daily blogging sessions about what Andy’s doing. Anyway, I’m basically telling everybody I’m more familiar with older people than most of the people that are popular now. I like a few celebs that currently have a career now and I don’t see any of their fanbases playing the blame game with everybody and everything under the sun. It really seems to be a Britney fanbase thing. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe another fanbase is out there and they go beyond the call of duty in the defense/blame game territory. Maybe they make the Britney fans look pale in comparison. I’m not sure.

I just don’t know why a reputable mag would even try to interview this crazy chick! Why would they set themselves up for that fall? I just don’t get it. Maybe one day, she will give “THE Interview”, but who will want to read it? It prob would be just like the Matt Lauer interview anyway. I just don’t get Brit or her crazy ass fans, and I never will.
