American Idol Season 7 Will Come With A Twist!

american_idol.jpg

You heard it here first!

We have just learned that the new season of American Idol will be a little different than any previous seasons.  A source close to the show has let us know that the producers of the show have decided that this year, singing won’t be enough! Producers will now be prioritizing finalists (the ones that make it to the auditions on TV) based on if they know how to play an instrument or not. The choices are (among others):

Acoustic Guitar
Harmonica
Violin
Trumpet
Saxophone

That’s pretty awesome. It’s like American Idol meets Juilliard!

I can’t wait for a fat man to show up in a skirt with a bag pipe!! It’s gonna rock.

They have enough trouble finding star material just with singers, let alone the contestants having to play an instrument too. Ratings must be getting low.

They’re a bit slow. About half of last year’s Australian Idol final twelve were songwriters and musicians. They even had a special episode for them to sing their own material playing their instruments of choice - mostly guitar but also one played piano - which lead to other performance nights where they were allowed to play instruments.

Yawwwnnnnn….like the twist they had last year?
Their best year was their first year when it wasn’t obvious to the public that the judges are biased. Simon Cowell gets paid by the same company that puts out the winners album, and it’s obvious that his comments have nothing to with talent and everything to do with the person being someone that he can market to teenagers.

That’s bull. My friend has already made it through two rounds of auditions (and she leaves to go audition for the judges tomorrow)… and she doesn’t play an instrument.

I REALLY DON’T THINK IT IS FAIR THAT YOU HAVE TO PLAY AN NISTRUMENT, IF YOU CAN SING AND READ MUSIC THAT IS ENOUGH. I DON’T BELIEVE ANY OF THE BULL ABOUT PLAYING AN INSTRUMENT.

Your voice and your talent for singing is the only thing you should need to do.
