As Bart Simpson would exclaim, “Ay Carumba!”

The proud underachiever and his family took the North American box office by storm on Sunday as “The Simpsons Movie” sold $71.85 million worth of tickets during its first weekend, according to estimates issued by distributor 20th Century Fox.

It’s funny that studio execs are so surprised by this. For once they put out a movie of a cartoon that the whole family can enjoy, where the original voice talents are featured, where the original story is being told and not some lame, dumbed down teeny-bopper version in a failed attempt to connect with children to young to remember the original, and too idiotic to connect with those old enough to remember, and this is not a dumbed down farce, nor are we asked to see the movie because of an over rated and over paid actor that no one gives a damn about. Of course the movie was going to do well.

Haven’t seen it yet…we get movies a little late where I live in Germany. But I saw a preview on the internet and the part that got me was Homer walking the pig on the ceiling singing Spider-Pig…I can’t wait to actually see the movie!
