Look at Amesterdam, their society is fine, and it is legal there. There are no wars there, not terroists trying to bomb and kill them. They just live a happy, normal life, while smoking pot, like me. Oh boy, just what I have been waiting for…a drug issue article. Time to bring out the claws. AHEM…Did some of you seriously…i mean SERIOUSLY…call someone who does NOT do drugs a dumbass???!!! The only DUMBASSES here are the people actually stupid enough to corrupt their bodies like that. I am talking even more than just weed here…drug useage is the same in my eyes as it should be everyone else’s because all drugs are bad for you. And dont reply to this with some smart ass remark about prescription drugs, because you know what I am talking about. If someone can’t even respect themselves enough to keep a clear head, then what makes other people think they can respect others? That is why there is drug testing at various jobs…if you do drugs, then you are not reliable. The only worse thing about someone doing some stupid ass shit like DRUGS, is when those people don’t think that what they are doing is wrong. I am definately not religious or christian, so this rant has nothing to do with sins or crap like that. I just have enough respect for my body and my family and my friends, and my job in the USAF in Europe, to NEVER bring myself down to a drug-users level. That is the lowest someone can even go! Wow so you’re giving prescription drugs the exception now are you? Funny because tens of thousands of people are killed every year from prescription drugs and even more from alcohol and tobacco but Mary-Jane’s death toll still at a big fat ZERO. If it’s a crime it’s a victimless crime where consenting adults either just want to enjoy themselves or perhaps (in some cases) self-medicate, but no one should be in jail over it. Point to one person who has anything worse than bronchitis. I have plenty of respect for my friends and family and find smoking ganja to be a healthy part of my relationship with them (many of which are non-tokers but have the common sense to be open minded enough to accept me…)
Why do I smoke it? To enjoy myself, to use my altered perspective to see life problems in a different way giving me potentiality for seeing a new solution. I smoke moderately and have regular check-ups with my doctor (as I did before I ever started toking) and am very healthy.
You need to not stereotype so much. It’s people like you who are responsible for things like sustained slavery and socially acceptable sexism/racism where and when these things exist… One example is your statement about drug tests. I live in Canada so that’s a lot less common here, but I’m an honest hard worker and if anyone ever held back a job because I was a weekend-toker well that would be nothing less than discrimination, as bad as religion/gender/race discrimination if you ask me.
If illegality poses a problem with you, why not look a little further back into the history of the constitutional republic you call home. The modern laws regarding marijuana (and much more) are illegal laws in that they are unconstitutional… so by the standards of anyone who has any respect for the constitution that gives you your rights, any laws conflicting with it should be considered VOID.
