Excerpt from an interview Washington did with The San Francisco Chronicle in regards to the controversy surrounding his boot from Grey’s Anatomy:

I knew T.R. Knight was lying when he avoided Ellen Degeners’ question about whether or not he had first hand knowledge that Isaiah had called him a faggot, “So you’re around the corner and you hear this?” T. R. dodged the question by changing the subject, saying “It’s an awesome word, isn’t it?” revealing that he does not know what Isaiah said.
You don’t go on national television claiming that someone “referred” to you as a faggot unless you have first hand knowledge that it’s the truth. The word for T.R. Knight’s claim about Isaiah is slander, and Isaiah ought to sue him and ABC too because ABC engaged in behavior, right up to this firing, which inferred that Isaiah used the word faggot in a homophobic way.
The whole thing is stupid. Knight wasn’t even in the room when the word was allegedly used. It was allegedly used to refer to someone else. On top of this Knight was too much of a coward to own up to this fact but instead chose to go on national tv and claim he was called something he was never called (Washington wasn’t talking to him, and did not refer to him during the conversation with Dempsey), and then not answer the question when Degeneres asked him directly. ABC was just as cowardly because they chose to avoid taking some heat and showing what really happened, and instead chose to fire Washington for financial reasons.
Oh yeah, and he apologized, went into counseling and did everything else he was asked to do. Knight can go on national tv and say “the word” but Washington cannot use the same word to deny what he was accused of? Please. This is nothing more than politcal correctness run amuk.
