Has Madonna Lost The Ability To Reinvent Her Music?

“Hey You” was produced by Pharrell Williams and Madonna. She will perform this song as one of the headliners for Live Earth U.K., joining the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Genesis, the Beastie Boys and other performers at Wembley Stadium in London on July 7, as part of the 24-hour, seven-continent Live Earth concert series.

Not the most moving video I’ve ever seen…What do you guys think?

Further clarification:

Not the most moving video I’ve ever seen…Meaning, the video could have been much more empowering; it has nothing to do with the importance of the message itself. I think some of you misunderstood me. Never said it WASN’T moving. Never said it was released for her to reinvent HERSELF.

Not moving!? What’s not moving about polar bears struggling to survive, or children’s faces that will grow to into the adults who wil deal with the mess we’ve left them?

This song isn’t about Madonna- she’s not making money off of it because it’s all going to charity. Perhaps it would do more good to stop criticizing the people who are actually trying to do some good in this world, instead of devoting so much time to commenting on “celebrity girls gone wild.”

The only things that aren’t moving are the pathetic lazy asses who don’t care about the world they themselves live in.

Not the most moving/inspiring song… but the video was totally moving. How can you not be moved by the images shown?

I’m really not a Madonna fan and I think she gets WAY too much credit for her musical ability… But as per usual, Carolina, you have seemed to miss the point yet again. Reinvent herself? Really? Is that what you got from this? Clearly, this song/video wasn’t about reinventing herself. It was about using her celebrity to influence her fans to think beyond themselves and to do something good in this world. You should be ashamed of yourself for posting that! You and Ruben are both so shallow! And you call Paris Hilton shallow and self absorbed, please!

I actually think this song is awesome. Yes, it’s not the most complicated, interesting song I’ve ever heard, and it probably won’t advance the sound of music in the 21st century, BUT, it’s a powerful anthem that’s easy enough for lots of people to easily remember. I honestly think this is going to be the next We Shall Overcome. It’s a song for the people, to the people, that challenges and provokes. I think the video is awesome, and I’m so glad Madonna put it out there…

I agree with the first two posters. Madonna’s trying to help make people aware that we all better start taking better care of our planet, so that we can all help take care of each other.

i guess today simplicity is lost. the song does not have any great hooks or a catchy tune. it is a simple message. delivered simply. it would be unfair to assume that this song depicts the direction her new album is headed. this song is not about madonna in her commercial capacity. its about someone using her celebrity to raise awarness about an important issue. But then carolina or ruben dont really have the capacity to appreciate a cause when they see one. or a probably too dumb to understand. so i suggest you guys stop making a fool of yursel by posting such shit. if we want our musicn movie info we’l go elsewhere - even to perez - but not here - so just stick to waht u r good at - gossip - oh even that has started to suck on this site

Ok the message is important.. the world is dying out and somehow we still do nothing, poverty maintains, G8 sucks and we should all use the bicycle instead of the car..

But DAMN this song is boring is hell! Wouldve expected sth waaay better than this since Pharrel produced it. Hope her collaboration w/ JT isnt going to suck as well.

Perhaps the message of the song would have more impact if the messenger wasn’t one of the most self interested and superficial women on the planet. Yes, the images are moving and yes we know that there is a lot of things to be done. So Madonna, “don’t preach”!

I wouldn’t judge a Madonna album based on one song alone. The thing with Madonna is that she’ll have a song like american life, and then later on she’ll have a song like hung up (yes I know those are on two different albums.) The thing is that she has enough hits to make up for the misses.

Are you really that much of an idiot? REALLY? How can you post a clarification stating that you “never said it was released to reinvent herself” yet the title of the blog is “Has Madonna lost the ability to reinvent her music?” YOU ARE SUCH A HYPOCRITE! God, I can’t stand how you and Ruben constantly contradict yourselves and pass judgment on everyone. YOU ARE A SHALLOW SELFISH MORON!!! You should have posted something positive about Madonna’s message showing support for the cause, and you didn’t. PERIOD! Don’t try to make excuses now, we don’t want to hear it.
