A prominent lesbian and gay activist who insists Isaiah Washington shouldn’t have been axed for his homophobic remarks against co-star T.R. Knight has created a petition in hopes to get the bad-tempered actor back in with the team.
Jasmyne Cannick, who worked with Washington on the Pan African Arts Festival, said she’s infuriated ABC booted Washington from the show’s upcoming fourth season for calling Knight a “faggot” during a scuffle on the set and believes it smacks of racism. Her petition had 1,233 signatures as of last night - to get the actor his job back.

ruben, unless you’re gay, which I think u r but just won’t admit, you need to watch how you talk about “the gays”. I’m not sure what planet you live on, but your core audience is gays and girls, don’t be stupid
I don’t think he should get his job back. And not just because of what he said, he was just my least favorite character on the show. I’m kind of looking forward to the season without him really.
i think this is stupid - he abuses and fights at work at his firing is called racist? well it should be more like - firing on grounds of intolerance of physical and verbal abuse. and the way he has reacted to his being fired - shown he is not really apologetic about his behaviour and PSA was just a formality. i seriously hope he doesnt come back on Greys. more seriously i am appaled at the way a gay person decided to support his disgusting/unhealthy attitude

The whole thing is stupid. Knight wasn’t even in the room when the word was allegedly used. It was allegedly used to refer to someone else. On top of this Knight was too much of a coward to own up to this fact but instead chose to go on national tv and claim he was called something he was never called (Washington wasn’t talking to him, and did not refer to him during the conversation with Dempsey), and then not answer the question when Degeneres asked him directly. ABC was just as cowardly because they chose to avoid taking some heat and showing what really happened, and instead chose to fire Washington for financial reasons.
