Dear Britney:
You made me do it. I didn’t plan to write another letter now. I took two weeks off from TMZ.com because I didn’t feel strongly about what anyone was doing — or else I couldn’t decide which side to believe.
You’ve driven me back to my laptop to ask why, if you have to slither in and out of cars, do clumsy imitations of gymnasts and wear clothes that are just too tight, trashy or skimpy, do you have to pose in front of photographers all the time? We’ve seen the body parts, poses and clumsy attention-seeking tricks before. You’re wearing out your welcome. Some people never can turn away from a train wreck, so who can blame the photographers for waiting for your next one? Do you really want captions such as TMZ’s own “Victim of Pap Smear” and “Does Britney Change Clothes for Cash” to be your legacy? You can do much better.
Unlike some others who are famous for being famous, you initially earned the fame and respect you achieved. You were a giant star, a Mouseketeer, a singer whose song titles became part of everyone’s vocabulary. You made some missteps. We all do. But, when you become more famous for hideous, irresponsible actions than accomplishments, it’s time to step back and figure out where you want your life to go. So many young girls still see you as a role model. Give those kids a reason to look up to you. They’re probably even tired of the endless speculation about what undergarments you may or may not be wearing. I know their parents would like you to move on and get dressed. Even the school uniform was more dignified.
You’re doing all right with the wigs. I know the paparazzi have a bounty on your (wigless) head. I think it’s great that you have a variety of wigs (some very stylish) when you go out in public. If you do feel you need to show how your hair is growing back, at least make a deal with a photographer to sell the photo and donate the money to charity. Do you know what a statement that would make?
Enough with the sorry grabs for attention. Deep down, especially for your sons, people want you to succeed. You can always get attention if you need it. Visit someone famous in jail and attract a zillion photographers if you’re that addicted to fame. Americans like winners. We like those stories about what people do with second chances. How about a moratorium on train wrecks and some time out for paying back the fans who helped you succeed?
Best,
Candy Spelling

Mrs. Spelling is so right (except for mistakenly saying that Britney wears wigs still). Britney should stop showing off her breasts, crotch and ass. Otherwise, just do Playboy already and get it over with.
Well that and Britney claims that she isn’t a role model, despite the fact that ANYONE IN THE PUBLIC eye will be held up as a role model for children, whether they are a model of what to do, or what not to do. Why doesn’t Britney just pose for Playboy since she’s willing to give it all away for free? The words “cheap whit trash” come to mind.
No idea who Candy Spelling is… but I totally agree with her. Best comment on B ever made.

I’m sorry but she is living in the past. For starters no matter whether we saw her nipple or her ass or not, she hasn’t been showing herself off. She wore a bikini at the beach last week, we saw her ass then. Film stars always expose their breast aswell as models, it isn’t a cry for attention believe me. Whether she shows her tit or not she’s gonna get attention, its stupid to think she would want more. Plus this woman (or frog girl whatever) thinks she is still wearing wigs. This woman has no right to jusge Britney at all. She herself i think is famous for “being famous”. She just married the right guy. Also isn’t this woman not giving her daughter any of her inheritance money? She is in no position to judge, and its like de-ja-vu. The same article comes up over and over again.
She is the one crying out for attention. I mean, if your gonna want people to read what you have to say, talk about Britney, it’s pointless. Britney doesn’t go on TMZ (i assume) so why would her legacy be their headlines. Only a minority of the world and america read what TMZ has to say, or any other blogger. She should get back to being a grandma. Make up for her past mistakes, coz Britney is sure trying to make up for hers, people just need to let it go.
Amen, Candy!
Mss Spelling tells Britney what needed to be told. Without being a liar, nasty, and hypocritical (ruben *cough*).
I hope Britney will very soon learn from opinions like these.
good letter, she wrote it perfect to the T. I wish i had her skills, but, my vocabulary to britt only extends to so far to.. you slut! Skank! Hoochie papas!!
you guys are idiots. Britney rocks :D
You are great girl!
ruben suckssssssss
and britney rocksssssssssssssssssss
britney rockssssssssssss
this people are, idiots britney i love u
because she is so not an attention whore herself FFS
Britney is TRYING to move on - and BTW - WE ALL show our ass at the beach - I have a STELLAR idea for Ms. Spelling - TRY WORKING THINGS OUT WITH YOUR OWN DAUGHTER BEFORE YOU START PICKING ON BRITNEY! -
Candy Spelling’s advise are what everyone seems to want of her. But seriously, I believe she will only listen to someone who is close and earn her trust. Currently, it seems the “jewels” and her most trustworthly person may have betrayed her and she seems lost with no right directions in her life. This may take a while for her to accept reality. Every celebrities, I believe take drugs to keep their energy level but she need to control her intake.
I don’t believe she will read TMZ (she will go crazy with some nasty things that people wrote) but at least someone else will and news can spread. People also wrote what a bad mum she is. What classify a “good” mum, it ponders me? Ask every rich woman of her status (like Angela Jolin, Madonna), do they really look after their kids themselves or engage a nanny? Are they comparing the layman’s wives? When you are 1st time mum, do you really knows how to take care of your child? Just because the media caught her holding the baby with one hand and almost trip, they classified her an unfit mum ? People of America, pls use your brains, don’t be so easily sway by the media.
Whip that letter into an envelope, whack a stamp on it, and post it to Britney at her house. It isn’t doing anyone, especially Britney, any good just sending it to TMZ.
What is Candy famous for again???
It seems like Candy should take some of her own advice when it comes to attention seeking. However, everything she said in that letter is true and sure hope Britney reads good. It’s about time Brit woke up and figured out her place in this world.
I’m sorry, is this a letter coming from the same bitch who screwed her own daughter or step daughter (tori spelling) out of her entire inheritance? why do ppl take britney so seriously, its so annoying, yes shes dumb, get over it and take it as entertainment. obviously this woman did this for no other reason than to try to catch a ride on britneys coat tails, or extensions in this case, to get some attention. perez said it best, nobody gives a sh*t about her opinion
Amen sister! You nailed it! We all really do deep down wanna see her succeed!! I like her, shes good!
All of you who mentioned Mrs. Spelling’s feud with her daughter Tori; she and her daughter reconciled in the delivery room at the hospital where Tori gave birth to her first child this past March. Tori talked about it in an interview for US Weekly Magazine. In fact, this website posted the interview. Tori and her mother sound like they are very close and are treating each other as though the feud never occurred.
As for Britney and her mother…it hasn’t been confirmed that they have truly reconciled. I have a feeling that they haven’t, but I wish that they would.
why exactly does this woman write public letters to young stars? what is her point? just to see her name in the tabloids? forget if you hate or love britney, WHY would anyone care what some mogul’s wife thinks? WHAT has she done beside marry someone famous?
Shut up, Spelling!
Candy Spelling makes some very valid points….good letter!
as if it were no enough that we have kelly and mikeG - but wait - these guys are really people with no faces right? so why count them in with a woman who has her face pulled up with strings? really spelling. get a life. like you and your family ARE SO PERFECT. U R AN ATTENTION WHORE. and u blame britney for being one? i mean - do u have kids? oh ok, your face shows u might have grandkids. why not give your valuable lessons to THEM? oh - coz (a) they wont listen and chuck u outta that house and (b) wont get u attention. so just shut up.
Candy Spelling is so right..i mean..britney..is getting attention for the stupid things she does..not for music and her beauty as she once did..i just hope that she’ll learn something from this letter..and i just wanna see her do something good..she’s always doing something that is bad for her image..hmm..i don’t think she’ll listen to the advices Candy gave her..she doesn’t listen to anyone..
Candy - before giving advice, always rememebr u have tori for a daughter - and shes not excatly honourable. so therefore. stop giving advice - coz clearly 0 it did not help YOUR OWN CHILDREN… or is ithis some kind of reverse guilt trip? so shut the *uck up and please - give advice to YOUR OWN - charity begins at home. and if u r not wanted there - goto an old age home - WITHOUT INTERNET ACCESS. and let us be.
this woman has too much time on her hands and she desperately needs a hobby…tori spelling is not exactly a model daughter lol
You tell her Candy! I hope she listens!
Does Spelling know Spears? If not, it seems her open letter is just a self-serving piece of editorial crap. I am fighting my natural instinct to ask who Candy Spelling thinks she is? She is rich because of someone else. She is one bad choice away from Brittany’s trailer park. I am not a fan of Brittany Spears or her bubblegum “music” but does Spelling really think she has the authority to give her advice?
