An original musical film, Across The Universe is a fictional love story set in the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, the struggle for free speech and civil rights, mind exploration and rock and roll. At once gritty, whimsical and highly theatrical, the story moves from high schools and universities in Massachusetts, Princeton and Ohio to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Detroit riots, the killing fields of Vietnam and the dockyards of Liverpool. A combination of live action and painted and three-dimensional animation, the film is paired with many Beatles songs that defined the time.

I CAN NOT begin to describe how ecstatic I am for this film. And the fact that it’s Beatles infused makes it all the better. I hope you guys go see it and support the art of film making and good story telling, cause it seems to be rare in Hollywood these days.

the cinematography looks awesome, but, i definately dont see this being huge. They didnt choose strong characters for the film….. and English like accents trying to depict wholesome Americana… come on now. lol. May as well go straight to VH1.
have you seen it? it’s one of the best films i think i have ever seen. the characters were perfect, and Jude is from Liverpool, like the Beatles were. if he was American, it wouldn’t have been as effective. i’m so much happier that they made him English (not “English like”).
it looks lovely. evan rachel wood seems perfect for her role. i’ll go see it.
the movie seems good, but carolina - u really R not ANY authority on movies, u are SOMEWHAT good at STALE gossip - stick to that dont try the Perez route to promote an endavour…, AND really u need to get a spell check software…. i mean begin = being? u know what, when u make a living out of trashing a certain person for lack of intellect or education or conversational skills or tact or class and constantly question the “did she write this herself, she cant write or say smothing clear to save her life”… the least you can do it ensure that u dont make a SINGLE mistake… this whole vicious bitching cirle that you guys have started… will all come back to you, and to us… but ya, enjoy till then!
hello to all people who say this movie would be horrible, i just saw it last night and i am currently obsessed with it. it is an amazing movie and will make anyone think about the 60’s differently. it not only envovles the beatles music, who are amazing, but they also discuss the civil rights movement and the vietnam war. this is a good movie for all ages
My friends & I are boycotting “Across the Universe” because of Sony Pictures’ juvenile publicity campaign in the Denver, Colorado area. Information about where & when this film will be shown is being with-held until the last minute. I found this out by an email argument with a film critic. After 2 weeks of fruitless searching in newspapers & online for Any information on where/when the movie would be playing, I wrote the (un-named) critic. I told her I’d heard it was a bogus ad campaign (much like “Paul is dead” which revived interest in the Beatles when I was in 11th grade). She said “It’s working, isn’t it a great trick?” So BOYCOTT this movie. Let Sony eat Cake!
