My Two Cents on Kelly Clarkson’s Ongoing Battle For Artistic Integrity

kellyclarkson1.jpg

It is so sad to wake up every morning and realize that my worst realizations about the state of the music industry continue to come true. Big wigs who were once powerhorses are realizing that their models are no longer working, and they allow their egos to take over the last ounce of reasoning they might have left. Yes, I’m talking about The Donald of the music biz, Clive Davis.

The music business is still falling, despite a considerable boost in profits thanks to people like Steve Jobs and all those new ventures that are all about ringtones. Clive Davis is doing the exact opposite of what he should be doing. In a business where more artists like Kelly Clarkson are desperately needed, it’s head of state has tried to depreciate the value of one of its most valuable possesions? Why? Well, because the music industry is ran by a handful of people who stopped appreciating the art behind the music a very long time ago and are all about milking the last penny from any sales.

Clive Davis might have the right to want to tell an artist that he believes he knows better than them when it comes to producing a great record. After all, Davis’ influence on music business has made an incredible impact on the behind the scenes of our everyday pop culture. Nevertheless, thou shall not bear false witness. Kelly Clarkson has sold over 15 million records and despite being another manufactured artist, she has been able to keep it real within herself, her music and her fans. That type of artistic integrity is unheard of in a major label environment, and especially in pop music.

Let’s keep the music at a democracy, not a dictatorship. Old fools out!

these people are smart… this is the kind of situation that will lead people to buy more of Kelly’s album… Clive knows what he’s doing, so does Kelly!

i agree 100 percent ruben!!! kelly is a true powerhouse and should be allowed to have creative input like an artist should have. most artists these days dont have much control and thats why music is sucky lately and tacky. there better be some summer hits or ill be pissed!!!!

I know people who says its bad, are just too caught in songs like “Girlfriend” and sugar-bubble gum pop music. I love that kelly is doing this kind of albums. Its amazing. If she sings “itsy bitsy spider” I’ll still buy it.

This time I totally agree with you. Kelly shouldn’t be treated the way Clive is treating her. I’ve heard pieces of the songs and they are just incredible. I fell in love with those songs. Sober made me cry! It was awsome! Kelly is an awsome artist. I know “My December” will be awsome! I bet this situation will lead millions to buy her albulm. I’m gonna be the first in line to buy it! Kelly is RCA’s gold! She rocks!!!!
