The Truth, The Lies, and The Drama of Britney Spears’ Orlando Concert

britorlando1.jpg

While other websites and blogs are reporting that Britney Spear’s show last night was a “disaster”, I beg to differ. A CREDIBLE source, namely X17.com has video of the “disaster”.

Here’s what happened folks:

During “Do Something” the track started skipping, but as you can see in the footage/evidence X17 has, she kept it going like a pro and no fans booed, or moaned, or groaned.

britorlando.jpg

Granted, X17 are big Britney fans and always rationalize her actions because they love her. I am just reporting two different takes on the night.

X17.com:

There was a minor audio problem during her performance of “Do Somethin’.” The CD seemed to be skipping so the backing vocals were gone for a second but Britney’s voice continued, though her microphone kept slipping under her chin as she danced.

But fans say Brit seemed unphased and after the show, the genius running audio made another mistake and forgot to take down Britney’s mic and the audience could hear her telling her dancers it was a “great show.” And from the crowd’s reaction, they agreed!

I am not trying to defend Britney, I stand firmly by the idea that there is no excuse for the lip-synching at this point in the game.

a) It is not like she is dancing as intensively as she used to back in the day.

b) She needs to prove herself again in order to acquire new fans (sorry, just the way it is), especially if she is trying to release an album after 3 years.

The Orlando Sentinel:

Her ridiculously short comeback set on Saturday at House of Blues made it plain that idea takes advantage of her fans. After similar blink-and-you-miss-it sets at other HOBs, everyone in the long line that snaked around the nightclub and restaurant knew that the show would be short.

They also knew that she would be lip-synching, but this wasn’t about music as much as it was about celebrity, loyalty and beating adversity.

“She’s a great performer,” said Jesse Ramirez, 19, a student at Valencia Community College. “I want her to prevail and come through the struggle.”

Her friend, Angel Thoi, 22, added: “This is a signature moment in pop culture.” She might have been joking, but it was hard to tell.

britorlando2.jpg

In all reality, Britney will never stop the lip-synching and the fans who pay to attend the show know that, but the least that could happen is no ‘technical problems’, especially when most of these fans have waited over 3 years to see her perform…for 15 min at that.

Yes, we all know the girl is dealing with personal shit and who cares if she made the plane stop because there were no leather seats…we all know she is spoiled. People will report what they want, how they want. It is up to you to choose what you believe in. Regardless, she is a professional and her personal life should not be mixed in with her professional.

No! I don’t know her and I don’t try to act like I know her reasoning. (If I knew, I’d write a book! She’d be a GREAT case study.)

However, people are quick to forget her actions in the past, and that is ALL I have to go by…her actions. So do you. So until her actions match her words, match the empty promises she’s made to her fans (promises I’ve seen broken first-hand), it’s gonna be tough to sympathize with her.

As Britney would daringly write:

Godspeed!

Nice cleavage too, Carolina!!!!!!!!! Don’t let the Britney fans get you down just because they have been trained like lap dogs to defend themselv….err, britney, no matter what. Her fans aren’t smart enough to understand that some people may not like her anymore because they’ve matured enough to see that britney has lied in the past and doesn’t appreciate her fans to this day.

first, i wanna tell you that I am a Britney fan because I like her and I’ve been a fan since day one. i believe she’s so true to herself unlike the other artists who are trying hard to live the superstar life. we are not smart enough? and who is smart? people like you???? oh, come on. just admit it that a lot of people still love britney. those who hate her are those stupid people (u r one of them) who can’t understand that BRITNEY is just HUMAN.

lol, i hope you realize how delusional and idiotic you sound. the haters are stupid for not understanding that she’s just a human?

by that logic we’re supposed to like Bush too….after all, he’s just human! Britney’s stupidity has passed onto you. that’s really sad…

I WAS AT THE BRITNEY MINI-CONCERT LAST NIGHT.

this is what happened from beginning to end.

12:30 me and my friends arrived from Miami at 12:30pm to the House of Blues. There were already people in front of us with chairs and blankets. The security was very nice and treated us wonderfully. The line was an experience; everyone in line was being teased by people in downtown Disney and paparazzi.

8:00pm (as planned) the doors were about to open. Britney’s cousin and assistant Allie came out to the line to select a guy to go onstage and what not. The hour went incredibly slow but everyone was pumped. Allie came out again to select a guy for Britney. She chose the guy right next to me and it was so nice what she did afterward. Allie actually came out into the audience and spoke to some of the fans. I told her that she was beautiful in person and she said with her country accent “THANK YOU!!” The guy had to come back into the audience and he said that he had met Britney and that she was very nice. There was a window backstage that the audience could see and it was britney’s dressing room. She came to the window to wave like 3 or 4 times. It kept everyone anxious.

9:30- Britney was on time! She came out with her dancers and mouthed her way through the first couple of songs. The thing about the not singing part was basically this…everyone knew. But no one cared. The fact that we all paid 35 dollars to be two feet away from our idol was enough for us. Call it dumb, delusional whatever you want. But when the CD started to skip my heart dropped and everything was so unreal. Britney did look worried but she smiled when the cheering got louder and everyone went crazy. I think everyone in the audience needed to show their support as the pop idol crumbled before our eyes. But then Britney kept going and thanked the audience after the song. What Britney did next was pretty smart. SHE SANG. For toxic which was the last song Britney Spears sang with her own voice. She sounded great. I thought to myself I don’t understand why she doesn’t sing live if she sounded fine. It was a smart move on her part, but it didn’t stop everyone within 10 feet of the concert hall from saying “CAN YOU BELIEVE THE CD SKIPPIED?!”

All in all it was a great experience. I don’t think it was a disaster and none hated her, but I do think she should use this as a learning experience.

Thank you for that insight johnny and it’s awesome to hear from someone who was there and knows whats going on and not from people who fake knowing things and have an anger for someone they use to worship crazily (Ruben).

That’s what she gets for playing at these smaller venues. It’s not like Jive packed her of with huge speakers and equipment….she is dealing with smaller and less professional equipment now.
Of course the fans will feel sorry for her that the CD skipped instead of realizing that it was a risk that Britney has willingly taken again, and again. I seem to remember that it was a cd skipping years ago (that time on a much bigger audio system) that first clued people in to the fact that she does in fact lipsynch. If she hasn’t learned from that by now, then she deserves what she gets, and her fans deserve what they get from investing in someone like her.

Im sorry but, when your backing voal track CD skips in front of your biggest come back while you are Lip Synching it IS a diseaster. Its a shame and diseasterous way to show the wolrd your talented. I feel sorry for her because she makes it to easy for us to lauph at her. Perhaps she should go home and think about life. Maybe Convert to a buddhist. Maybe get a high school or college diploma? Better yet, why doesnt she just go home and take care of her children.

good (FAIR) article…i wish she would sing live, but i dont mind if she doesnt. i wouldnt call what happen a disaster more like minor technical difficulties rather than DISASTER ahh so scary!!! (just a lil bit of ammo for the haters cuz they keep using the same excuses) britney handled it well and sang live and got a huge cheering reaction. maybe she should take that in consideration for singing live. its her choice. maybe fine a medium for both? i’ve met britney this past april and she is a very nice person, so i will always support her.

B…
britney does do a balance. she sings live the ballads that do not require intense dancing. for mid-tempo songs she sings with a backing tape. for hi-nrg and intense dancing songs, she lip-syncs. i agree with that. i’d much rather see good dancing and the song sounding the same than dancing with a bunch of heavy breathing in the mic. i met her when she came to dallas on the dream within a dream tour and she had no problem owning up to this. alot of performers have the most boring shows cos they just stand at mic or walk around stage…zzzzzz!! with britney shows you get a real performance. why people feel the need to publicly judge her is beyond me. you hate her, fine, hate. there is no need to berate or belittle those who still like her. so I too will always support her.

I WAS THERE LAST NIGHT! FRONT ROW! so the back track skipped… whatever! technical problems happen a lot at concerts. she kept singing and dancing. it was no big deal. even better, the crowd went CRAZY! … because we realized she was also singing live.

people always want to trash BRITNEY even with a great concert like orlando, she told that crowd more than she has all others: “thank you, i love you”, etc.

it was an awesome night. the crowd was nuts. the energy was insane. and britney’s performance was awesome. i’m glad the cd skipped because now we know she doesn’t just lip synch. all the haters had to find another reason to hate.

I think what you said was fair, Carolina.

However…I wouldn’t call x17 a credible source, especially about Britney. They’d probably rationalize her actions if she fed her children to a lion. In their video of the show, its obvious there’s a skip in the video, where they edited out more of the problem.

I don’t think carrying on with the show made her a professional…b/c a pro wouldn’t have done that in the first place. Its too late in the game for her to be lauded simply for showing up to her show. Most of the crap thats gone on in the last few years with her isn’t adversity she’s had to overcome, but rather sticky situations she’s put herself in….and none of that justifies half-assing your work and expecting to get your butt kissed for it.

It astounds me that in the eyes of her fans…this girl can do NO wrong. She’s done it all….neglected her fans, told them concerts, appearances, letters of truth, etc will be coming, and have continuously short-changed them. She consciously makes the WORST decisions out of things (driving with a child on her lap, shaving her head as a show for paparazzi), she has turned herself into a spectacle of entertainment by her crazy antics…and now that she puts a headset on and goes back on stage she expects people to respect her like they did when she worked a little harder in her younger days….and not only do they respect her, they will defend ANYTHING she does with the poor reasoning of “leave Britney alone its HER life!”.

Years ago, Milli Vanilli became OUTCASTS and the target of a LOT of hate for lip syncing someone else’s vocals. Even drove one member to suicide because of the scrutiny…but in this day and age…nobody needs to sing in place of another because we have a wonderous thing called technology to do it for us. However, we are slowly and steadily becoming used to seeing this. Ashlee Simpson was mocked, but when at a Britney Spears concert….a tech error uncovers what everyone already knows….she gets CHEERED and blind support. Support! For what???? For putting on white go-go boots and dancing around for 15 mins so she can in the future soak up more undeserved cash from these blind fans, because they will tolerate her giving them nothing but bear minimum for entertainment? Ugh…its disgusting, I have no tolerance for this…and neither should anyone. Britney Spears doesn’t deserve a dime….and sadly, she’s created a following that thinks she looks “great’ in a cheap wig, bloodshot eyes and cellulite in clothing that barely fits her. Media brainwashes, enough said.

Britney’s “comeback tour” is about the caliber of a tea-dance “drag show” at a local gay bar. Trash dancing by some over made-up sluts in fake hair, torn fishnets and skimpy duds, lip synching to a scratched CD! If y’all liked that, be sure to stick a buck in her G-string to let her know …

the point is, im glad she has fans who STAND by her in a world where your own family might not. everyone who bitches about these fans and her needs to see if (1)they would stand by someone so completelty (and unconditionally and blindly) and (2)do they have anyone who will stand by them like that. in that case BS is truely blessed. and soemtimes when we are crumbling, its this kinda support that gets us back.plus america is a country that voted for Bsuh twice, so? everyone in the crowd knew she would not be singing live… right.. ans she did not force them to come to her mini gig - so people - take responsibility for your own aware action. it was a piece of brit u wanted and u got it. as for it being a disater - sure it was, but it showed that people do are for her. AND she can SING. if they were so wanting live singing, go to aretha franklin’s. they knew what they were in for, so stop shitting BS and playing the victim

I am not a Brit fan or hater, but the girl is seriously not well,,,walking around with holes in fishnets,,wigs that looked like they cost $5…but anyway when I read she is estranged from her Mother..it all makes sense now…it was written her Mother was sick on Mother’s Day.. Brit did not go see her or wish her happy mother’ day…

she needs to resolve her issues with her Mother, and probably others who care about her…her appearance says it all…

I’m done with this site…
I’m tired of all the Britney shit….Im tired of everything. Pink? how can this ugly bitch try to put down a person who’s only sang her praises? How many times has Britney OPENLY admitted that she adored pink, all the while pink doing and saying everything she can to show the world that she DOESNT like Britney? These so-called “smart” people I dont get. What has Pink really done thats so wonderful? What….shes above it all because her choice of sound is a guitar and not a violin riff? Whatever. Britney….whatever. I love her, and I cant wait for the CD….and Im not stupid or delusional. I do nto have to defend my choice of music, nor do I have to defend the fact that my idea of fun is watching a bit about the Black plague of Europe on cable…we are all who we are, and we need to stop all of this madness. Ruben, Im glad you can see both sides of this, but please try to remember that above it all, Britney is just another soul in this journey of life. She has to follow a path that was laid out for her already, and things will happend as they are supposed to…There are bigger things going on in this world than the fact that Britney mimed a track — and? Get over it. Move on…write more interesting articles….people are dying…this world is FUCKED UP and it has nothing to do with Britney Spears! WAKE UP EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!
