The first thing that comes to mind is: same old, same old. I was rather hoping for something a bit more revolutionary or at least different. It looks like they’ve just got out some of her old costumes from storage. I don’t know… there just appears to be a total lack of imagination with the costumes.

So this is Britney’s comeback….. showing up at a smaller venue for 15 mins with a few chicks she grabbed off of the dancing streets, lipsyncing a few songs that were hits back in the day, wearing cheap costumes (bra and jeanskirt…ooo), doing lame half-assed (dont let the wig fall off!)dancing, and not saying a word to her fans.
Its amazing what happens when you lack the proper management.
I would be PISSED if I had waited 3 hours to se her lip synch for 10 minutes.

Thank you everyone! I’m so glad that the people who have commented so far have not tried to defend her actions last night. It’s just unexcusable. Britney is no longer a cute 16 year old who can play dress up and dance about on stage. She is nearing her late twenties with two children and a lot of emotional baggage. This is a time for her to take a new direction with a more grown up sound and lyrics that gives her fans a glimpse into what she’s had to go through in the past two years while she was away. A comeback isn’t 15 minutes on stage singing hits from the 90s. I think anything she does will make a small set of Britney fanatics happy. But for the 90% of the population she needs to win back it does not work. It is also disgraceful that she made her fans wait for over two hours to sing a mere 15 minutes. Her fanatic fans will continue to make up excuses but none will be sufficient. This might have been a “surprise” but Ruben along with tons of other gossip sites confirmed that she would sing at HoB. It wasn’t really a surprise. A surprise would’ve been her just showing up to a popular club in L.A. or NYC and giving a free concert. This was expected which is why 650 people last night were willing to wait for nearly 3 hours for her to show up and perform. And I’m sure most would’ve really liked to have gotten more than a 15 minute lip-synch show and one sentence thanking them for showing up. I only say this because I know Britney is capable of doing better if she cared about her fans. Hopefully she learns her lesson and gives a better and lengthier performance at the other venues.

This chick hasn’t been on stage since 2004…maybe late 2003 as my memory fails me. Shes popped out two kids, busted up her knee — and been through utter hell which may or may not be her fault.
Now forgive me, but any of you who expected the Dream within a Dream tour need to be committed because you MUST be crazy if you expected her to pull something spectacular off in a few days. Things like that take TIME…weeks of rehearsing….designing costumes….sound checks….she had to get on a bus and go to another city, and do some dance moves on stage — mission accomplished. Hello…this wasnt even confirmed on her OFFICIAL WEBSITE….this probably is her own doing, and shes taking a step towards being who she used to be. I did not expect anything GREAT and shame on any of you who knock her down for making a fucking EFFORT. I havent seen any videos from this so I’m not sure if she lip-synched or not…and I dont give a flying fuck-o. Like I REALLY need to hear another live rendition of Baby One More Time…whats the point? She couldnt possibly remix that song any more than it already has, so I could care less. Im also not sure if she sang any new songs…if she didnt maybe there were legal reasons behind it. Britney HAS to throw on a huge spectacle of a performance, its not like she can stand up there and belt out impressive vocal stylings or throw on a show that focuses on her amazing voice. Britney spears is not a singer…she’s a performer who became famous with her clothes, concerts, looks, personal life, etc. As a 25 year old to go on stage with a handful of dancers MIMING your way through a 15 minute show is utterly disgraceful to fans. All she could offer after all the hype, all the time off and all the supposed practice and hard work is the same dance moves to the same pre-recorded tracks she offers any other time. Britney fans will find any way to defend her lack of interest and effort into her “career”. And Michael, I STILL say those things that I said 4 years ago… She doesn’t write her own material…she mimes her concerts…she’s a HORRIBLE example to young kids everywhere…she smokes like a chimney… AND NOW THERE’S THIS…she uses marriage and babies to gain headlines and publicity that she “just wishes would go away cause she’s just a normal girl!” She fakes knee injuries and other such stuff to get out of previous engagements such as touring. She uses REHAB to gain headlines instead of getting the help she needs…hence the revolving door policy she went in and out with. She’s not very smart because she’s cutting anyone who genuinely cares about HER out of her life…family, friends, the people who built her up in her career. Then there’s the whole “fire anyone who tells her what to do…” 95% of people out there have bosses who tell them what to do and how to do it at work…why should HER career be any different. Fact: This was NOT a surprise performance. She DID do several surprise performances before In The Zone came out…hitting several clubs in LA and NY (as I recall) doing her NEW material and showing something new and what some might say improved (it’s a “to each his own”…think what you want about it thing cause I thought she made one more step to disgrace-ville with them…but whatever!!) People KNEW she was gonna be there last night…and people KNOW she’s gonna be doing OTHER performances in the near future…and they know WHERE they’re gonna happen. They are showing up wanting to see something new and improved. The girl is 25…not 17!! Just standing and shaking your ass on stage doesn’t cut it anymore. She and her die hards are living in some time warp fantasy that it’s still 1999 and she can just smile and be and everyone will be happy and satisifed.
She’s TWENTY FIVE years old. It’s time for music with some depth…it’s time for her to SING IT LIVE…it’s time to give up the dance routines and PERFORM THE VOCALS that singers do. I REFUSE to pay ANY money to see someone dance around on stage UNLESS they’ve made their career dancing. She’s made hers as a singer (and I use that term loosely with regards to her.) SHE CAN’T SING LIVE!! She can’t…she has a very weak voice…she can’t sing in tune no matte what key they put the music in…she will ALWAYS sing flat and use too much vibrato (which is a big reason she goes flat)… If I wanted to see a backflip, I’d go see a gymnast. It’s ok for someone to have dancers…it’s ok to bust a move here and there…but if you record MUSIC as your career, focus on the MUSIC and not the dance and visuals. I’d pay big bucks to see Christina cause a good vocal means more to me than anything. Now, mediocre singers like Jessica Simpson need to do something to make up for it…I wouldn’t pay to see her either. But I’d sit for days listening to Christina sing, and have her stand in the same spot cause vocals are the single most important thing in a performance. LYRICS are a close second…Britney doesn’t have either.

If you love Chritina and her music then why are you writing comments here? Everyone, including Britney, knows she does not have a stroing voice. We have known that for years, but she has still managed to do well. so don’t worry about her and her fans and go listen to a Christina album.

Britney Can sing…of course she doesnt have a strong voice…so? Her voice breaks live because she sings in an alternate tone — listen to any of her vocal performances back when she was doing “Baby one more time”….a completely different voice…more free…fluid…less “hype”…singing a song in the tone of voice that Britney uses for “oops” etc is difficult to reproduce live — mainly because the sound comes from the very belly of the throat…and compressed against the nasal cavities and to produce the proper sound she’d have to look upward — something she can’t always do while dancing. [notice how shes looking skyward in the studios while shes recording?] SIMPLE SCIENCE/BIOLOGY! Vibrato?! have you HEARD Christina and her “whoa whoa whoooooooah yeah yea yeah”s!? hahaha!
I agree that Britneys club performance was nothing compared to what she CAN do, but thats not reason to insult her.

Such CRAP!!! The very belly of the throat singing that she does is damaging to a singers vocal and should NEVER be done! You would never hear REAL singers do that. I HAVE heard her “Sing” live…it’s aweful. Again, she CAN’T sing in tune, on key, and the vibrato is warbbled and out of control. She’d never make it out of the first round on American Idol…she might make the TV show ONLY as a bad audition for everyone to laugh at. But she’d NEVER make it past that. I’m sorry, she’s just not good! YES, I’ve heard Christina…the only reason she does what she does is because she’s separating herself from the faux singers out there. That girl is the real deal. It’s not a matter of a stronger voice vs. a weaker voice! It’s the difference between a singer and someone who just likes to dream about it.
You’re right…those people you named put on a great little show. But that doesn’t make them singers, and Britney isn’t even in the same league as ANY of them. It sure seems like everyone has a lot to say about her as a person, a mom, and a performer, but none of us know who she really is or what she has been through unless you know her personally, which I’m sure you don’t. Give her a break, she seems like she is at least trying. And unless you are a woman who has had kids before, and then tried to get back in shape…it’s not easy…being 100lbs before the baby and then trying to get back to where you were is not simple. She is a lot thinner than most people in this country. I think she looks great, and I am impressed with what she is doing.
I don’t know her but what I have read and yes she has done something’s that are not her greatest moves but you know, why isn’t anybody saying what she went through for the past few years being married to a loser I mean come on she was everybody’s dream girl.
