I’m totally unimpressed with this story and the lead up to the picture as if we were supposed to be shocked. Guess what, you’re going to get old someday too and you won’t look like a spring chicken either.
He had cancer you guys. It’s not funny or entertaining. He’s been through a lot of heartache which his wife Radner who also died from cancer. Lets hope that he gets better.
He looks extremely old for his age. That was the point. I agree with Alicia and StormWarning. The update is not supposed to be insulting, it’s just shocking how much he has aged. Not very pictures of him out in a while, that’s why.

I was at the book signing and he didn’t look as bad as that photo. That photo wasn’t taken at the book signing because I have a photo with him that night and he was wearing a blue turtleneck sweater. He looked fine, his hair was a little flat but he and his wife were there and he was happy and well.

I LOVE Gene Wilder! I met him at the book signing he did on March 7th in L.A. Meeting him was my 22nd birthday present. It was the BEST gift EVER! He was so adorable and so unbelievably sweet. I just wanted to stay there and cuddle with him. Although I couldn’t stay, I did ask him for a hug, which he gave me. Afterwards he blushed and I just about died!! Gene Wilder is such a genuine, sensitive and caring man. There are very few of those kind around so to me it doesn’t matter what he looks like. He will always be extremely handsome in that down to earth sort of way. Not to mention the fact that I do find him to be adorably attractive. Even at 73.
I had a dream the other night that I walked past Mr. Wilder and said excuse me sir. He was impressed that I called him sir. I then posed for a photo with him. I kissed him on the cheek and then we started french kissing. He then whispered in my ear,” when are we doing the beer war”?, which was slang for sleeping together. It was the strangest and yet most enjoyable dream I have ever had. He was wearing a white cotton-blend suit with dark blue pinstripes. I have always thought that he is a terrific actor. Nothing against Johnny Depp, but Mr.Wilders Willy Wonka was superb.I agree that he is adorable,even at his age.

I only live less than three hours away from Gene and I’m hoping to meet him soon, like at a book signing or something… Oh, and I don’t know when that picture was taken, but I saw a picture of him from about a month ago and I think he looks GREAT for his age… And he’s still got those bright blue eyes after all these years!

Gene Wilder is alive and well and beautiful.. He and his wife take tap dancing classe together, and he still keeps up. Legend has it that the incredible Wilder “package” is still in action as well, decribed by the smile on Karen’s face.
Who doesn’t?! Forget Johnny; Gene will ALWAYS be Wonka to me. Ever heard the song “Angel Eyes” by The Jeff Healy Band? I hear it in my head when I see Gene Wilder anywhere. Except when he’s singing in a movie, then I don’t hear it.
