Fun Fact About Carolina: I am a HUGE advocate for the success of minorities. As a minority myself (I was born and raised in Brazil) I have a great appreciation and admiration for the accomplishments of women like Jennifer Hudson and Thandie Newton. Here they are in March’s issue of Essence Magazine.

Yes - this is Jennifer Hudson’s year - I certainly hope she wins
an oscar this year for Dreamgirls - she deserves it.
I LOVED the performance of Thandie in LA Crash - she showed a range
of acting that is a hint of a long career of stellar performances. I
hope she works with scripts and directors that will help her range
shine much like Halle Berry and other African-American actreses.
This is a great time for black women in film.

Thandie is SO BEAUTIFUL. We really need to see her in more stuff.
I am sorry Carolina but being from brazil does not make you a minority it makes u a foriegner a minority would be BLACK as jennifer hudson is you need to change your comparison on this blog you are no where close to being what many minorites in the USA have to go thru sorry but it is just plain wrong of you to use that
It’s great that you’re for minorities, but seeing as how you’re a lightskinned Brazilian, I question your implying that you’re one, too. Technically, yes, you’re a minority anytime you step foot outside of Brazil, but that’s not what we are talking about when we say “minority” and “minority experience.” I’m not saying this to attack, I just don’t think you should confuse apples with oranges.
Dear becka34 and Yoyou,
Last time I checked, the word minority referred to a group of people differing (especially in race, religion, or ethnic background) from the majority of a population.
Frankly, Carolina is a minority in this instance because she is of Latin American descent. If she is not of Anglo-Saxon descent or of any other European descent (excluding Portugal and Spain), than she is not white.
Who cares if she has hasn’t experienced the “minority experience”? Hell, there are tons of “minorities” that haven’t experienced the “minority experience” either, so what’s your point?
Basically what I’m getting from both of your posts is that you all are hating because she’s not black. Just be real and stop sugarcoating your hate and prejudice so we can all know how simple you both are.
Stop hating on someone who’s just trying to understand and support people and cultures that are unlike her own. Black people complain that no one supports us in our struggle. But, when people do pledge their support, you condemn them as not being black enough for you or knowing first-hand what we’ve been through.
You need to get you priorities straight and pay attention to what’s REALLY important other than stupid, petty and inconsequential arguments like this.
Everyone in America is a foreigner except the American Indians. That’s the whole point. We’re a nation of immigrants. We’re all on the same side. Don’t let hate radio divide us. Say NO to racial segregation–it’s time is past.
